First half of April comments.
Very mild, very wet and dull. An unusual combination; an April which has so far been much like an October as temperatures are concerned. It has also felt much like one with a massive deficit of sunshine hours, and having exceeded 110% of an entire average April's precipitation in the first half alone. The second half looks to be cooler, unsurprisingly, though often unsettled.

Mtd for Perth today is 29.7C (extrapolating today's high of 30.5C).
Here are high/lows (max anomaly/min anomaly) mtd so far (i understand it's only to April 15 so they're naturally warmer than the averages...but it's still been a very warm april with no change to below ave temps anywhere in the southern half of the state.
Showing anomalies starting at Geraldton in the mid-west of the state, an inland example in Northam. And then a series of stations along the coast starting from Perth to Albany. Showing the influence of the Southern Ocean on the strong anomalies this month.
Geraldton:32.8/17.2 (+3.8C/+1.8C) Northam: 28.4/12.8 (+1.8C/+0.8C) Perth: 29.7/15.1 (+3.8C/+1.3C) Perth AP: 30.5/15.3 (+3.9C/+1.8C) Bunbury: 28.0/13.2 (+3.9C/+1.4C) Margaret River: 25.8/11.6 (+3.3C/+0.3C) Albany: 21.2/14.4 (+0.0C/+0.5C)
Rainfall at these stations are <1mm at all (except albany at 14.1mm)

I'm in limbo (These averages are older and colder than the 1991-2020 average as well) We've needed winter clothing since mid-october and there hasn't really been any sizeable change in temperature if you don't count the record breaking -30'C streaks in Jan and Feb. Meanwhile pretty much the entire rest of the world has recorded the warmest oct-apr period ever...

Not sure if I should make a thread on this, or rant it here...I have a gripe with Koppen's "oceanic climate". Sydney is pretty oceanic if you want to include marine moderation and general wind direction (which comes from the ocean). In other words, non-oceanic climates can be pretty oceanic/maritime influenced. But maybe I'm missing something.

Can hardly wait for April 2024 to end. What a miserable abomination, no sun, pissy rain every few minutes, and now a cold cloudy last third - what a pissant of a month.

This is pretty specific but I'll just post it here. Last night I noticed there was a shoutbox discussion on whether Melbourne was only 5-6c in the middle of the day on November 21, 2022. If divisionbyzero0 or anyone else is interested, there's actually a site that displays daily temperature graphs all the way back to 2000. However, it only shows data for Melbourne, given the creator is based here. www.baywx.com.au/graphplot.htmlBy looking at the data for that day, I found that it dropped to around 9c at 12:30pm. So while that was very cold for almost being summer, it wasn't as cold as what was speculated, at least at the official station. It could have been colder at some suburban locations though idk. I don't remember that day specifically tbh, just that the whole month was cool and wet.
