Some pics I took on the 21st Next time this will happen will be in 2080, I won't be alive, and after that, it'll be in 2417. Previously, this conjunction happened in July 1623, and the one before it as close as this was in March 1226. What I recorded here will only be seen again by those who are newborns or small children atm, as the next one is in 2080. I will be dead, as will likely everyone on this forum. After that, the next one is in 2417. Then another less impressive one in 2477. Next time Jupiter and Saturn get closer than in 2020 and 2080 will be on Christmas Day 2874. Probably the rarest astronomical event that can be directly observed. This won't happen again in our lifetimes, except for Benny and Fappo. I'll most likely be long gone by 2080. Hey, I'll just be 82 in 2080

Picture of the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) under construction. 39.3m diameter primary mirror. There's a couple of dots at the 5 o'clock position casting long shadows, which are people. The scale of this thing is insane. The primary mirror is nearly 4 times the diameter of the largest existing telescopes, and will have 16 times the light gathering area.
