I guess the most "extreme" events we, and probably western Europe in general, can get are the Atlantic wind storms.

The most exciting weather event here would be 100°F+ highs, no contest. Honorable mention(s) go to cloudbursts/severe thunderstorms as well as freezes in winter; there's nothing like booming cloud-to-ground lightning and torrential rain with high winds.

an F4 tornado; it's extremely unlikely but has happened nearby. started about 20 miles east of here but don't think there's a reason it couldn't have started here. Oh, the OP is event I would be most excited about not objectively most exciting. I guess a major blizzard since a big tornado is terrifying.

Nothing really, maybe except a windstorm.

Yep 100F or potentially a first ever 40C would be my most exciting event.
Second would be intense thunderstorms
Third would be heavy snow event in winter. These seem to be very rare nowadays now though, we barely even get one day a year with noticeable lying snow now. I usually hate cold and winter but I don’t mind a cold snap if there is really heavy snow, such as 2010. I couldn’t deal with that for weeks on end in winter though

Probably cyclones (considering the events in March this year and last year), but more so hitting 50C!
Hailstorms are exciting, although people do not like them.

Temperatures of 105F (41C) or higher would be exciting to experience here, hasn’t happened since 2010 and only once before that, in 2001. Any record high temperatures also usually means dry heat, which is amazing. Also, just some huge flooding rainstorms in winter/spring, such as those in January 1979, April 2007, and March 2010. Also, severe thunderstorm outbreaks are exciting when they happen in any season other than summer. Have had a couple severe storms already this year (hailstorms are fun) and November 2021 had the biggest tornado outbreak of my lifetime here.

-40 F (-40 C) or lower temperatures are exciting for here, but even -35 F (-37.2 C) and lower is very rare so I'd call that exciting too, last such instance was in January 2009, last -40 F was in February 1996.
-20 F (-28.9 C) or colder high would be record breaking here so very exciting, but a -15 F (-26.1 C) or colder high is exceptional on its own. Last -15 F high was in January 2019, before that January 2014. Last -20 F high was in February 1996.
1'+ of snow in day is exciting for here too, last time it happened was November 2014.
Snow past mid-May is extreme also, and a June freeze. August/early September freeze as well.
September snowfall, or any snowfall before mid-October in that manner.
100+ F (37.8 C) or higher is exciting, last occurrence was in June 2011 but it's been increasingly rare since the 80s.
An F2 or stronger tornado is rare here too, unsure when the last occurrence was though.

Tropical Cyclones making landfall over the city and suburbs. Meteorologically interesting and exciting during the lead up to the event, they are actually dangerous and deadly bloody things that have caused death and destruction in Darwin. The three big ones in Darwin were in 1897, 1937 and Xmas Day 1974, with 'Tracy' in 1974 killing 65 people and damaging/destroying 90% of structures/dwellings in the Town. 'Carlos' in Feb 2011 was unique in that it formed over land just to the south of Darwin and stalled, dropping 1000mm rain in a week at my place. Then 'Marcus' in 2018 caused chaos with over 15,000 trees being felled in and around the 'Burbs. Some older suburbs still have overhead powerlines, and were without power for up to two weeks due to trees falling.

-June or September snow
-Massive temp swings with a 45-50 f change in highs day to day
-Extreme cold fronts where temps can drop 20-30 f in just 10-20 minutes
-Sub-0 f highs
-Not possible anymore but extreme sub -20 f cold temps
-Big snowstorms with 12+” of snow in a day
-Tornadoes

A blizzard or a thunderstorm with wind. Lots of wind

- Highly lightning-active severe T-storms - Highs above 100°F/lows above 80°F (or, temps in the mid-upper 90s and above combined with dewpoints above 80°F, such as a repeat of July 1, 2012) - Cloudbursts that come with extreme rainfall rates

Blizzards and tornadoes. They are rare but they still happen once in a while.

Most exciting in a not-so-exciting climate is when the mercury climbs above 30ºC in a hot, sunny summer day (northerly); then crashes by several degrees (~22ºC) thanks to a thunderstorm and a southerly bluster.

Windstorm or severe thunderstorm (large hail as in June 2020). Rarely, a blizzard.

Huge downpours, most likely in wet winters like 2022-23, and wind storms.
Extreme heat waves (~45c) also, but I haven't experienced one yet.
Maybe any accumulating snow is remotely possible, and would be the talk of the town, but it hasn't ever been recorded.

1. Seeing that massive, dark cloud rolling in, and bringing those high-intensity, electric storms. 2. Hot temps, such as +38C 3. Snowfall, especially the strong one (because, you know, we don't get that as much as we used to, and I miss that ) 4. Temps below -10C
