Cali Love or a real Chinatown? San Jose probably has a bit above 3,000 hours of sunshine by international standards. For me, San Jose destroys Shanghai. Very nice summers, and nice shoulder seasons, very tolerable winters and a general sense of comfort year round. Shanghai on the other hand resembles Florida in summer (horrific) and London in winter (unpleasant). It won't get much snow either, so just pointless cool drizzle in winter and tropical crap in summer... Blah. A- vs E+

Compulsory knot explanation of his choice lacking? Actual winters, better summers, more precipitation, more fun etc... The weatherbox itself just looks much nicer as well. Lovely colours!

Shanghai. Those summers and the much better chances of storms cannot be ignored.

San Jose, it's pretty much an ideal climate
Shanghai, too cloudy, too humid and rainy in summer, and too cold in winter

Shanghai is slightly better. Temps are much better but summer is pretty nasty with all that rain and humidity. But at least the wet season is summer, not winter.
