Chambery. Why no Quebec climates? Although I'm not Cadeau, I think it's fair to say that this didn't include Québec since it only listed locations the French World Cup squad players were born in, and since there were no immigrants from Canada, therefore no Canadian climates.

Lyon.
Chambery has better temps but it’s much too wet and too cloudy.

Definitely Chambery. Good combination of cold winters (by french standards) and warm summers.

Right, that's the main purpose of the selection. Some athlete's birthplace are in a small town that not providable to have a proper weather station, in this case the climate data is used from the nearest major city or the major province of their département.

Most of France has good summers, so it's based on the winter. But nowhere in France has a good snowy winter. Mâcon, Lyon, and Troyes are a little better than the others. Orléans, Paris, and Toulouse are close. The only bad ones are the tropical climates.

You prefer Mâcon to Chambéry? Yes, Chambéry is slightly hotter in summer but the summers are slightly wetter as well and of course slightly colder and presumably, slightly snowier winters.

Chambéry gets more snow, but it also gets a lot of cold rain, and I don't like cold rain. With an average high of 5 in the coldest month it won't keep snow around except for cold spells. If it was a bit drier in winter it would win.
