Least cold city of Sakha vs the warmest summers of Sakha. Yakutsk is from 1981-2010, I corrected that later on in the weatherbox since it matched with the 1981-2010 Météo Climat normals, but this is an older screenshot. I'll go with Yakusk. Both are deadly icy hells in winter, but at least Yakutsk is warmer in summer, sunnier, and is a bit drier during the warm months. Aldan would receive about 350 cm of snow in a normal year due to Pacific moisture, whereas Yakutsk is probably around 120 cm. Aldan is of course receiving more thunderstorms as part of the Siberian monsoon, but has more moderated summers in spite of its lower latitude as a result of a greater Pacific influence. As for their ratings; mine for Yakutsk is F+ whereas Aldan is also F+, but a bit lower on the scale bordering standard F. At least both are better than Yellowknife.

Real reasons why Aldan is better?

Yakutsk for the drier, warmer summers.
Aldan goes from frigid winters to cool, rainy crummers while Yakutsk has several nice months.

Real reasons why Aldan is better? Much wetter crummers, and too lies at a lower latitude than Yakass.

I'll go with Yakusk. Both are brutal in winter and in reality that -26.8c daily mean does not feel any "warmer" than Yakutsk is.

Yakutsk, both winters will kill you anyway so you might as well go for the extra summer warmth and sun.

I'd choose Aldan for the higher precipitation and snow. Although Yakutsk's seasonal range is better.
