I give my climate an A. It offers a little of everything. Average of 40 thunderstorm days per year. What do you think?

It's not a horrible climate, but it's still far from ideal. Gets nice variety but winters are too weak and summers could be a bit hotter. I'd give it a C-

I'd give it a C- Still trying to get a feel for my updated winter preferences, as we've just had the two warmest Februaries on record back-to-back. Would I be good with a normal winter? Probably. A slightly colder and snowier climate like Cincinnati seems ideal.

I've always been a bit fascinated by the climate in that region, the cold snaps that winter can get are impressive.

I've always been a bit fascinated by the climate in that region, the cold snaps that winter can get are impressive. Looking at Dayton on Wikipedia, Iโm baffled by the huge difference between the airport and downtown stations. Miami Conservancy District shows hotter summers than here, and also less snowfall than here. On the other hand, Dayton International Airport is actually cooler than Columbus year-round. There are 13 more precip days and 11 more snow days reported at the airport as well. I suspect the DAY data is more accurate, in which case Iโd prefer either Indianapolis or Columbus.

It does seem like Dayton is lower in elevation than Lexington (738 ft vs. 978 ft) so that could explain the hotter summers? I do think DAY is more representative than the Miami Conservancy though. DAY is at 1,009 ft in elevation, so that accounts for some of the difference. The Miami Conservancy is prob better representative of the city itself while DAY better for surrounding rural areas. In that region, I think Fort Wayne is my favorite climate. Still has decent summers and more consistent winter cold.
