Quite high winter diurnals by Lake Michigan standards. Also summers are quite cool, being moderated during the day and influenced by the interior at night. In other words, a typical Upper Peninsula climate with one notable exception. Lake-effect snow is rather low, hence much more moderate than in Houghton for example. Sunshine by international standards is probably right around 2,000 hours similar to other nearby areas.
My rating is a D+
Snowfall is more suitably spread than in Houghton and often winter highs are rather moderate which is welcome. Summers are decent but not great.

Polar freezing winters, polar freezing shoulder seasons, dire cool summer. Terrible climate

D+. That March and April are really dreadful. Summer and fall are too cold and wet but not terrible. Winter looks decent but too cold and long.

Not wet enough. Summer temps are ok but nothing special.

A-. Spring is too cold and winter could use more snow.

E. It's like if someone took Bunghole, and somehow managed to make it even worse

Quite bad. Not too different from here, except August and September of course. You can't say this is superior to Scandinavia.
