This might be interesting...
Gagetown is one of those severe New Brunswick climates with cold, snowy winters, but also being heavily moderated in summer due to cool Atlantic waters and frequent low-pressure systems, leading to sunshine staying at around 1,800-1,900 hours, although Gagetown as a small village in the small Queens County (yes), in the centre of the province.
Tristan da Cunha requires no real presentation, being the most isolated permanently inhabited island. At 37Β°S sun strength is stronger, although the climate is gloomy. It's never hot, but on the other hand summer nights are way warmer than San Francisco - a climate at a similar latitude, with similar highs.
For me, Tristan wins. It's C+ vs D+. Gagetown is similar to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, which is a bit annoying since winters become quite severe - especially considering how near water it is. Tristan has some seasonal variation without being too cold in winter. Had Gagetown been better January-April it might have had a chance for me.

And there's supposed to be a difference between 1139 mm and 1681 mm? They are both damp, so the seasonal choice is quite obvious!

Fuck. Those record highs are absolutely appauling in Tristan. That alone lowers the score by a fair amount since it's literally never going to be nice swimming weather. Had Gagetown had 3'C warmer winters and maybe less seasonal lag, I'd have picked Gagetown. The winters there are just too cold and long for me to pick it over Tristan, sorry.

I don't believe I'm doing this, but Gagetown. Tristan is like eating nothing but brocolli for the rest of your life.

Gagetown for sure. The winters are obnoxiously snowy and spring/summer could stand to be a few degrees warmer, but otherwise it's a decent climate. Tristan da Cunha is just mind-numbingly dull and boring.
