This is actually really tough. Theoretically, October-May could all be the most interesting month of the year.
January is generally drier and less snowy than the other winter months so I’ll eliminate it. Also October, last year was absolutely epic but that’s really atypical and in average year it would be a less interesting April. I’ll get rid of November for the same reason.
March and April I think are the most interesting months, variable, snowy, can be cold or hot and April can get storms. I think February is the most interesting month, at least recently it’s gotten the biggest cold snaps and it can get warmer than December and has a bit more frequent snow but it’s close. May is up there too, I’d rather have snow than storms so it’s not quite top 3.
Well very long answer, but I’ll go with February, March, and April.

Dec, Jan, Feb. Winter weather is just far more interesting, and those months are also more variable. Actually, it's a close call between December and March. It seems like March is quite often a better month for winter weather. Not this past winter, though.

November... peak thunderstorm month with absolute ball tearers every other day. January.....wettest month usually, monsoonal conditions, cooler temps, very little sun, kick arse monsoonal squalls screaming in from the north west. February.....as above, unless a monsoonal break period, then conditions similar to Nov/Dec with decent storms.

April, May and June.
All 3 months have more day to day temperature variations. There's a lot of cold rainy days even with wet snow immediately followed by warm spring like days. Summer and fall don't have the same day to day variations while winter can jump off a cliff for all I care.

Tbh there are no interesting months in Souf Yorksheeeeer, unless you live on a massive hill that gets loads of snow and I did that nonsense in highland Derbyshire before. I guess then, here July gets the most thunderstorms, but really, all the months of the year here are grey, drizzly and infinitely boring. Let's also pick April and May, then, as spring tends to have more variation.

January/February for being the wettest and prone to occasional high winds and heavy downpours.
And September for being the most prone to heat waves.

March, September and October. Either prone to heatwaves, bushfires or floods.

Winter is the most interesting season here in my opinion because that's when snow is most likely to occur. So December, January and February.
Not gonna list them in order because all three months average a similar amount of snowfall.

February, March, and April because they get good quality frontal thunderstorms and cold rain from cold-air damming events.

Previously voted on DEC,JAN,FEB. Now they've been changed to APR,MAY,SEP. April is unpredictable - one day it could be snowing and the next you might get summer-like temperatures. May for being the wettest month. In September, the weather is usually mild, but the temperature can vary dramatically from chilly to downright hot.

NOV, DEC and JAN
These three months are bipolar and alternate between hot northerlies and cool southerlies. Special mention to October for often having decent storms and rain events.

March and April. Early spring is unpredictable in the Midwest.
