Two Castilian climates in the region between Madrid and the Bay of Biscay. They do certainly have several similarities, but Ponferrada is more likely to see summer rainfall and probably more likely to see heavier individual winter snowfall events (the latter courtesy of winter precipitation). Salamanca does have more days per year with recorded snow though. Salamanca is also having higher diurnals and more clear days. Its main drawback for thunderstorm-lovers is the fact that summers are very dry and the semi-arid nature. It does suit me well though to avoid thunderstorms and have high summer diurnals. Both have truly great summers, but the increased sunshine of Salamanca is my pick here. What about you? I do expect this to be quite close due to Ponferrada's higher precipitation, but we'll see.

Ponferrada. Better rainfall and rainfall distribution. Still decent summer sun and temps too.
There's been a lot of these spanish climates lately, lol.

Wait... does Lommaren= ? Lots of Spanish wanking either way. The only decent climate anywhere near Spain is in Andorra and the Pyrenees.

Malta frรถzen tรผndra
In all seriousness, he just promoted the frost-free climates and then said "13 climate zones" as a throwaway line to deflect from the fact that he always talked about Alicante, Almerรญa, Mรกlaga, Altea and Valencia, all virtual copies of one another...

I prefer Ponferrada, it has very nice summers (so does salamanca as well, think ponferrada's slightly lower diurnal range is better though perhaps now, mine is set to salamancas right now)! More winter rainfall as well, wish it had a colder winter and warmer spring though.

Ponferrada for more rain and warmer lows year-round despite Salamanca's higher sunshine.
