How would you rate this fictional (based on reality) Upstate NY climate?
Summers are mild and enjoyable, with the warmest temperatures typically happening in late August and September. Falls are nice and mild too, though they do get quite chilly by the time late November rolls around. Fall-like weather typically lasts into December, before the cold finally arrives by January.
Winters are not too cold, but do last quite long. The coldest weather of the year typically happens in March, sometimes rolling over into April. March and April are also the snowiest months of the year. In recent years, locals have started celebrating Christmas festivities on St. Patricks Day, as the weather is much more suitable for wintry activities than the typically mild Decembers. Earth Day on April 20th is also synonymous with wintry activities, as the residents appreciate Mother Earth by engaging in activities such as skiing, snowboarding, and building snowmen.
Springs are comfortable, but very brief. They usually last for two weeks. Sometimes it's three weeks.
Precipitation pattern is stable, though the months of March-May are marked by an excessive amount of precipitation days. This is due to constant snowy, or cold drizzly weather happening during these months.
This climate features nearly 2000 annual sunshine hours, which is not too bad. However, November through March are quite cloudy. Especially December, which averages approximately 5 minutes of sunshine a month. This time of year is known as the "Grey Curtain" or the "Iron Curtain", or even "that gray concrete shit". The rest of the year is decently sunny, and locals enjoy the brilliant sunshine by going to the beach or picking apples.
