This genre which I always thought was called dark ambient is something I've been listening and enjoying the last 20 years or so.
Mortiis, Wongraven from Satyricon and Burzum were all pioneers and this song by Mortiis is one of my favorites. Absolutely glorious in its entirety. One of the reasons I started making my own music.
This will probably be a long thread, most likely only frequented by me, but I have a lot of artists to share and remember.

And of course this classic from Wongraven - Fjelltronen. I love that cover art from Theodor Kittelsen. Satyr is a genious and I almost forgive him for the awful rock albums when I listen to this.
