1901 at Kiandra Chalet, NSW was the coldest and perhaps the snowiest year on record up this way. This particular year had comprised an annual mean maximum temperature of 11.3° C; annual mean minimum temperature of 0.4° C; annual mean temperature of 5.9° C, with the annual precipitation clocking in at 1,623.2 mm (chiefly in winter and spring). As for the rating, 1901 earns itself a B from me—owing chiefly to the remarkable winters. Much to my misfortune, absolute temperature records at Kiandra Chalet were not registered prior to 1957.

A solid C, those winter temps are quite epic by Australian standards, but the summers are crummers and annual temperature range is too low. Looks epicly snowy though.

I'll have to give an F. Like Helsinki but probably with a ridiculous amount of snow.
EDIT: Upgraded to an E.

How much snowfall fell in this winter? This particular photograph displays the Kiandra Snow-Shoe Carnival c.a. 1900, so it is accurate enough: Twas' a major skiing centre back then at these lower elevations...quite telling of the winter conditions!

Not quite sure without records and precipitation days but rn I’m going with an E.
Summer is pleasant but way too cool. The shoulder seasons are suicidal with all that precipitation and winter is probably stable and boring as it’s Australia. At least there seems to be a good amount of snow.

That could totally be a warmer and wetter than average year in Sky Valley

Helsinki would never see such summer and early autumn lows, though.

Extremly "impressive" cold average lows for Australia! Due to the altitude, surely. Even locations north of the Arctic Circle have warmer average lows; Bodø has warmer avg lows in all 12 comparable months of the year!

I gave this an A rating.
Just needs warmer summers (at least 22C avg highs and 14C avg lows).
