Located in a valley a mile or two from the Norwegian border east of Trondheim, the village of Storlien has what in my opinion is one of the most interesting climates of Northern Europe. Being located close enough to the North Atlantic Current to get a genuine increase for its 600 m elevation both in winter temperatures and precipitation, Storlien receives according to my estimation somewhere in between 350-375 cm of snow annually, since winter rain is quite rare. This means that it's not a cold desert for sure.
This results in snow depths often totalling above 100 cm long into spring. Having said that, there are some milder spells, which unlike Katterjåkk prevents scenes like the one in the snow thread the other day.
Why is the annual minimum so cold in relation to January then? Well, in the past 17 years, the most sizeable cold snap of the year has occurred in all five winter months and it's always rather unpredictable when it'll defeat the maritime air and take hold. Another interesting part is that my region has seen September droughts so far this century, whereas in Storlien it's gone from already the rainiest month, to increasing that even further.
My rating is an E- because the summers are unacceptably chilly. Since they moved the station a mile or so in the valley to a frost hollow spot, summer frosts in the station has been more of a rule than an exception, so it's evident that for low extremes there are a few microclimates here and there. On top of the mountain next to it, the tree line also goes. It's got a great climate for being a ski resort, but not much for year-round living. Having said that, -3/-9 is ideal skiing weather.
Also, sari , this one does sort of look similar to your dream climate, doesn't it? Nidaros , did it look more or less similar to what you would've expected when all parametres are contemporary?

^Storlien: Pretty much as expected. Same altitude as Røros, but milder winters and a little more oceanic, with about 90 % more precipitation than Røros. The record high in May and Sep are actually pretty strong considering the altitude, while Apr and Jun record high are on the weak side. The record low in Oct and Nov are pretty strong/cold, almost as Røros. The record low in May is actually slightly colder than the more continental Røros! As expected the autumn is clearly milder at Storlien than Røros, while Røros has warmer highs in spring and early summer.
I would expect Røros to be a little sunnier than Storlien.

A solid B climate. Needs warmer summers OR slightly drier summers.

F. Subarctic polar arctic hellhole. June to September look like nice winter/early spring months.

B for cold Sky Valley! Those summers are a little weak, but I guess climate change is on the way to fixing that. Just flip the sunshine pattern around and add a few hundred hours.

It definitely has a lot more warmth potential than it previously had sari , just look at this for the full list and the warmest months in terms of anomalies in bold! Would it seem similar to the warmer years in Sky Valley? Anyway, a lot of the above-average winter months seem like Sky Valley to me Just look at the numerous 0/-5 months!

B–; lovely temps, with variable summers, albeit too cool and far too cloudy in summer.
Cloudy summer = buggery. Summer must NOT be cloudy—end of story!

3 B ratings, 3 E ratings, and 3 F ratings. Interesting distribution.

B+. Warmer summers could make that an ideal speagles84 climate How warm? 20? 22? 24? Also, what about the lows in that scenario? Should the stay alpine like now or warm up too?

I think I would really enjoy Swedish winters Lommaren. However, the extremely long summer days would annoy me

I think I would really enjoy Swedish winters Lommaren . However, the extremely long summer days would annoy me I think Mora, Hagfors and Delsbo would be very good climates for you? As far as summers go, on my latitude it's not so bad, but it might be a bit more of a disturbance farther north.

I'd prefer longer and colder winters, but those summers are nice. Yeah at 41N it's perfect. You're at the mid 50sN, that might be okay, but near the arctic circle would definetly be a disturbance. I don't mind longnight's but long days disrupt sleep

D.
Nov thru Feb is nice, but the other eight months are an absolute crapfest. Way too cold and wet for my liking.
