Quite similar latitude, both European, identical annual means, but very different distribution and very difference precipitation patterns between solid maritime or cold fucken desert.
For me it's a difficult call, but ultimately I'll have to go with Nürnberg by the slightest of margins. That being said, the lower rainfall in Elista helps it a lot. Less thunderstorms? Probably. Hopefully the humidity isn't too bad there either, but I'm not sure. It's quite far away from the Black Sea anyway. Had Elista been rainier in summer and thus having more storms and higher dew points, then I'd gone for Nürnberg easily. After all, I'm not a fan of the lower Midwest at all. Elista ultimately ends up being a bit too cold in winter. It's quite close to Northern Sweden, so since neither winter nor summers are within the comfort zone it's not a winnable position.
At first I thought Elista but -3/-9 is a bit too much.

Hmmm. Elista has better winter temps and probably has more snow. But the rest of the year is too dry and summer is hot. Nürnberg is too cool in spring and mild in winter but most months are decent. Nürnberg.

Nurnburg, not even a contest! Elista is like South Dakota or something... yuck! Lommaren "the comfort season is too short"

Elista for warmer summers and more sunshine. Nuremberg has the precip advantage and more tolerable winters though.
