Southern California's highland versus Northern Mexico's highland. Two rather interesting climates to say the least.
My vote is unsurprisingly for Idyllwild; which is an A climate, due to its snowy winters with moderate temps and very nice and pleasant summer weather. Nuevo Casas Grandes is too hot in summers, probably gets too many thunderstorms for the precipitation it gets and snowfall chances would look bleak in winter with the low precipitation. It's not super-bad, basically a C-, but far from ideal. Sunshine is most likely very similar between the two. I don't know whether "idyll" means "utopia" also in English, but in my native language it does, so both these place names look rather funny to me!

Mexican one. It goes against my usual preferences for summer dryness, but those low temps in the Cali one are ridiculous. The Mexican summer temperatures on the other hand are perfect.

Nuevo Casas Grandes for sure if it's wetter. But due to being on the borderline between arid and semi-arid, I'll have to think about this one.

Idyllwild due to winter snow and more precipitation.

Idyllwild. Cooler winters and more snow. It does have a lot of winter rain but few precipitation days so thatβs not a big deal.

Idyllwild for being cooler year-round and not as dry

Idyllwild (spelling weirds me out cause we have a major road here spelled Idylwyld haha). Not a fan of the Mediterranean precipitation pattern and the diurnal range is too high, but the temperatures and precipitation pattern are more to my liking than the one in Mexico.
