I never picked a place. I'll go with George, South Africa. Good summer temperatures with a chance of heat, cooler winters, and no dry season.
Long version: I won't pick Ifrane, because I don't like the winter rain or massive spring lag. Mokhotlong is decent, but too dry in winter. If it got more rain in winter, I would pick this easily. The scenery is excellent, too. High-elevation climates near the equator are decent. The best I have seen in Kenya is Nairobi and Eldoret. I pick Eldoret for being cooler and not quite as wet in the wet season. I don't like very wet or very dry months.
I assume there are places in Ethiopia that has good climates, but the ones I found are too dry ( Jijiga) or too wet ( Jimma) or just not a good pattern ( Dessie).
Eldoret has good temperatures and some variation in rainfall, but it doesn't have any temperature variability. South Africa is better for that. The best places there have a chance for hot weather in summer and avoid a dry season in winter (example: Pretoria). The best I found was George. East London is also very good, with more rain on fewer days, but summer nights are too warm.
Another climate worth mentioning: Kampala is a year-round version of my summer. A bit hot and too cloudy, but not bad. Also, Uganda apparently gets a huge amount of thunderstorms.

Lesotho is the best place in Africa. Ifrane, Morocco is overrated with mediocre winters and boring stormless summers. Hard to find climate data for places other than Maseru though.
It is hard to find climate data there I agree. It's a shame winters are so dry.
Oh damn! I've been trying to find data for Terae but somehow missed that page. Terae is usually the coldest spot in southern Africa, if not the entire continent (that at least has a weather station).

Maybe Newcastle, South Africa. The description says snowfall often experienced twice a decade. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newcastle,_KwaZulu-Natal#Geography_and_climate

Updating these as my preferences have changed, I’ll do another climate battle for all my favorites once I figure them out for every continent. I pick Mokhotlong, Lesotho, still not very good only a D/D+ due to the boringness. However, it’s the best Africa has to offer with pleasant temps, storms, distinct seasons and a chance of snow. A bit cooler than places like Maseru and doesn’t get the hot, dry summers of the Atlas.
