Just came across this absolute abomination of a climate. The figures are almost too ridiculous to believe... An average high of 48F with a record low of 32F in July Apparently it does get snow every few years, basically the only place in South Australia that does Rate away

B; lovely winter temps with lots of handsome chilling rains, but summers far too mild.

Why does this have the same climate as Mount Dandenong despite being 3° higher in latitude? Elevation is the same. More exposed to westerlies?
My rating is D, anyway.

E
Cold and shit like anywhere else in SE Australia that's even remotely elevated.
Also lacks the storms of the hills in SE NSW.

C, imagine it's sunnier than London or Portsmouth so seems a bit better than there. Bland but liveable.

C, imagine it's sunnier than London or Portsmouth so seems a bit better than there. Bland but liveable. Most definitely in the summer and shoulder seasons (by a long shot), but likely not in the winter. Not even Northern England can manage 24 precip days in a single winter month, apart from the Pennines.

Adelaide averages 141 hours in June, London averages 50 in December. I'd guess Mt lofty is around 110 or so.

No, it's definitely sunnier in the winter. Adelaide averages 141 hours in June, London averages 50 in December. I'd guess Mt lofty is around 110 or so. Mt. Lofty would average a lot less than 110 hrs, due to the effect of orographic uplift; it averages ten more days of precipitation than Adelaide during winter. ~ 90 hrs would be more like it. A Victorian climate to support my estimation is Eildon, which only averages 69 hrs @ 37° S; going by percentages, it's much cloudier than London. Even Cabramurra averages ~ 110 hrs, which is nowhere near as exposed as Mt. Lofty (an isolated high point directly facing the Southern Ocean). Whenever I talk sunshine, I never refer to absolute hours—rather, sunshine percentages. There is a prodigious latitudinal disparity between Mt. Lofty and London, so the daylight differences must be taken into consideration.

The summers are quite nice, but no winters whatsoever.

D. Not horrible, summers are fine and the precip. pattern is good (peak in winter), but winter temps are just boring and ranges/records suck. That ruins this climate for me.

D+. Winters are insanely stable, and I'm certain they're pretty gloomy given the temperature and precipitation profile. The summers are terrible, other than the record highs.

B. Winters and precipitation pattern are perfect, but the crummery temps hold this back from being an A climate, obviously.

Grade B. Diurnal ranges are too small from May to August, otherwise a pretty decent climate overall.
