Located on the northern shores of the island, adjacent to the Sea of Okhotsk, the snowfall:precip ratios are amazing. Despite lower precip totals in winter, the winter is essentially the wet season here when you look at those snow totals. Easy A+++++. Decent summers too, especially for the region. Probably not many thunderstorms though. Here's my closest pic taken, that is somewhere between Engaru and Asahikawa. Didn't get any in Engaru unfortunately...but Asahikawa was snowy, Engaru was not; was sunny and ~4.0C there.

D-.
Except for the cars on the wrong side of the road, that picture could easily be upstate NY.

It's in the driest area of Hokkaido (and likely Japan as a whole). Shari is the driest I've found but summers aren't as good: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shari,_Hokkaido

Shari is the driest I've found but summers aren't as good: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shari,_Hokkaido Shari is only slightly drier but worse temps. Summers arenβt that wet and it probably gets some epic heavy snows. Interestingly high winter diurnals too with all that precipitation. Still not a good climate though.

B+. Too snowy, too dull and the average winter lows are too cold. Otherwise a decent enough climate.

I'm curious as to how a place that's coastal and gets that much snow has such high diurnal ranges?
I'd rate the climate a solid B+. Pretty good climate but the summers are too cool, winter record lows could also stand to be a bit lower considering the average lows. Probably too stable for me. But the snow and cold winter is beautiful.

great climate. Gave it an A. Hopefully they also have a vegan sushi bar. Vegan sushi? Some types of sushi regularly don't have any meat, so no need for "vegan sushi". And can we please keep it to climate talk.

F
Boring submild crummers, hideous amount of snow, and cloudy.
Unfortunately for Penis Mcghee, there are no vegan sushi bars so he'll have to look elsewhere to perve on Japanese twinks.

Hokkaido lowlands on the whole seem to have a climate similar to the Great Lakes region, just with wetter summers. If there were more impressive mountains here maybe we could see Dfc and ET climates as well.

Also, packed sea ice reaches down to that northern coast.
