Melbourne gets a C+.
Summers are great temperature wise but could be wetter and stormier. I like summer temperature variability, but there should really be fewer days below 20C and above 40C. Our summers overall usually get a B+, or an A during a particularly stormy season (which is rare).
Winters on the other hand are a completely different story. Flowering plants bloom right through the season as if it's not even there. We haven't recorded so much as a snow flurry since 1986. We have a higher record low than Miami! Our winter weather is so annoyingly stable that a deviation of 3C from average makes local news. Winters need to be much colder, snowier and less stable to achieve an A grade. Overall, winter gets a D+, saved from a lower grade by the occasional entertaining cold front and daytime highs that aren't usually too warm.
B+ summers and D+ winters average together to produce an overall C+ climate.
See, as a warm lover myself, I would have the opposite impression of which season is best and worst in Melbourne, but a similar overall grade: I'd find the winters pleasant compared to what I'm used to, while I'd find the summers quite weak and the sub-20'C days would annoy me for sure. It's interesting just how many people we've had on here who've lived in Melbourne: jgtheone lives there as well, and Beercules used to live there too. What are the odds you've come across either of them without realizing it? (Probably pretty slim considering it's a 4M+ city but it's kind of fun as a joke.) Like I said, my own climate gets a D from me, and yesterday morning's low of -12'F (-24'C) doesn't help either.

I was on holiday with my mates in Magaluf, Mallorca about 10 years ago, and I was standing at a bar waiting to get a drink. I recognised the guy next to me, then quickly realised he was my best friend at primary school, but moved away when we were young!! So I hadn't seen him in probably 15 years! All those years since I'd seen him, then I bump in to him in a bar in another country, about 1200 miles from home! Crazy really!

B, bordering on an A-. Could use hotter summers and record highs, but otherwise pleasant most of the year.

D
Cold hellhole for much of the year, nice from June through September which saves it from an F. Variable enough that it's usually pretty interesting. Summers are nice when Wausau isn't stealing our storms. It's just the November through April chunk that brings the grade down.

C, just kinda meh. Needs milder winters and much drier summers, but overall not that bad.

I'd say about a C- average.
B- summers and D- winters.

A-. I love the climate here. I'm not really a fan of weather (unless it's fair weather!) Only wish we'd get more rain (the climate is semi-arid).

A-. October-May is really good although could use more variability and snow. Summer is what brings down the grade though as it’s too hot and really stable.

C. Pretty decent climate. Comfortable, nothing too extreme, pleasant. Good balance of rain, sun, warmth and not too much cold.

I'll give Atlanta's climate a B+. Temperatures are pretty much perfect throughout the year, as is precipitation except for during summer, which is far too rainy. The lack of a consistent summer drought and too much winter variability bring the grade down in what is otherwise an essentially perfect climate.

C-. Better than everywhere else in the country, but still not good.

I'll put Madison at a C-; warmer than Appleton on average, and more variable in terms of temps due to less moderation from the Great Lakes. We'll see if my upgraded rating holds through this winter though!

B. Generally a good climate but annoying in some ways. Summers are more inconsistent than I like, while winters are too consistent. It can also drizzle for long periods of time but not amount to much. Otherwise, there aren’t any huge flaws.

B-/C+ depending on the year (La Nina years the latter, El Nino/neutral years the former). I would prefer lesser rainy days/precipitation and more clearer sunny days, particularly in the summer. Completely blue skies are not as common as people think. But overall, Sydney's climate is nice.
