Cool thread. A lot of good choices...came down between Bathurst and Kiandra for me. I went with Kiandra for the higher rainfall. Ummm…how did you get stuck between those two?? They're not even remotely similar. Genuinely curious as to what made it tight between Bathurst and Kiandra for you.

I generally prefer rainier climates but can appreciate dryer climates if the summers are moderately warm and have cool nights. One thing I cannot stand is warm and humid nights so any place with cool nights and moderate (not too hot) highs will get a second look.

Halls Creek, epic summers, with some winter cooldown, but it's the epic storms in the area that got me.

The 'dry season' cools down heaps in that part of the Kimberley, and Halls Creek has a bit of altitude with higher hills around, so can get a bit chilly overnight in the winter months. Epic storms in the 'build up' and 'wet' !

Strathbogie (1974–2020 @ 501 m AMSL) should give a good idea of Beechworth's record highs: Considerably lower in elevation, and a long distance, but a good indicator for maxima.
