Can't believe how crap Canada is doing at the world championships this year. Most of the team is made up with NHLers whose teams did not make the playoffs so its been pretty shocking to see the results.

Canadiens stay alive with a 4-3 OT win vs the Leafs in game 5. Game 6 returns to Montreal, where 2,500 fans will be allowed into the arena for the first time since before the pandemic/lockdowns began last March

Leafs choke in the playoffs yet again. This time after holding a 3-1 series lead after a dominant 4-0 win over the Canadiens in game 4. Yet year after year it's consistent failure for Toronto.
This loss is probably the worst of the bunch given it's the most intense and classic matchup of the NHL. Nonetheless I'm very happy to see Montreal progress to the second round.

Nice win for Canada over Russia in the quarterfinals of the world championships. Team has definitely played a lot better as the tournament has progressed.

Canada wins the World Championship in ice hockey beating Finland 3-2 AET in the final! Great! Congratulations Canada! Started off slow but finally got our act together as the tournament progressed. Finland's quality has really increased over the last few years though - they've done very well at the world championships and the world Juniors. Hopefully the NHL will allow players to go to the next winter Olympics as we haven't had an international hockey tournament with the best players playing since 2016. |

I think its great if there's more competition at the international level. It's a good thing for the NHL as well. |

Congrats to Finland on winning gold!
PS: I will say though it was pretty disappointing that all the best players in the world were not permitted to take part in the tournament yet again. Hockey really needs a works cup once every four years like every other major sport on earth.

Leafs lose in the first round yet again. Year after year, first round loss after another first round loss, or not making the playoffs, it never gets old. Now been almost 20 years since they last won a playoff series.

Best matchup in round two is undoubtedly the battle of Alberta. (Oilers vs Flames). First meeting in the postseason in just over 30 years.
