22.1C and sunny today. I know people who live about 20 miles away over the hills to the west, and they told me they had nothing but heavy rain and thunder, quite the contrast.

Warmest day of the year so far, in a very unlikely location. Bude, Cornwall recorded a high of 25.0c.

All analogues at the moment pointing towards a cold and wet summer, and with a La Nina to ruin it further.
2007 here we come.

Quite a remarkably cold April so far, particularly the lows. I don't see it changing too much by month's end. In a week, the rain will return which will suppress the daily maximums. I'm guessing it'll be 12/3C for the month and ~40-80mm of precipitation, but probably on the drier side.

Our low was -2.7C last night, which means the absolute lows in the last six months look the complete opposite of what you'd expect due to our lack of winter.
March: -3.4 April: -2.7 November: -2.6 December: -2.1 February: -2.0 January: -0.7
Look at this as well!
Frosts 2019/20:
Autumn: 7 (avg. 7) Winter: 7 (36) Spring: 7 (13)

Start of meteorological winter in 2019-2020:
I like the transition from October straight to February. Did nowhere get no winter at all?

Went swimming in the river today with my friend We're currently just sunbathing in swimwear and there's something happening that I've never experienced before. Because the air is so dry right now, all the microscopic sweat drops that form on my skin immediately evaporate as soon as they leave my sweat glands. I'm sitting here in the sun under a blue dome sky and it literally feels like it'd drizzling as microscopic droplets of sweat evaporate across my body.

If you want to see a true horror show, then compare the 2007-2019 period with the 1994-2006 period.
Average sun hours at Heathrow 1994-2006 / 2007-2019
Jan: 64.1h / 55.6h
Feb: 83.3h / 75.7h
Mar: 117.9h / 124.3h
Apr: 165.9h / 174.7h
May: 203.1h / 182.6h
Jun: 216.9h / 179.4h
Jul: 225.5h / 193.6h
Aug: 217.1h / 167.6h
Sep: 156.9h / 143.7h
Oct: 124.0h / 102.8h
Nov: 78.4h / 60.9h
Dec: 55.3h / 52.1h
Annual: 1708.4h / 1513.0h
April should never be sunnier than August!
Strewth! How would the 1981-1993 period compare?

Strewth! How would the 1981-1993 period compare? Bearing in mind the 1981-1993 period had a spell of awful summers from 1985-1988, similar to the 2007-2012 spell, these figures make the last 12 years look even worse! Jan: 58.2h Feb: 71.7h Mar: 103.3h Apr: 160.2h May: 193.8h Jun: 185.4h Jul: 204.1h Aug: 203.6h Sep: 141.1h Oct: 108.0h Nov: 68.3h Dec: 47.3h Annual: 1544.9h

Insanely dry this year in parts of northern California.
The town of Willows in the Sacramento Valley has had just 1.96" of precipitation YTD (Jan 1 - Apr 22). This beats out the insanely dry 2013 by exactly an inch. The average precipitation in Willows from Jan 1 to Apr 22 is 13.07".
