I've always been a weather nerd....mostly stats and data and historical stuff.Rarely do I participate in fictional climates and have never made one, nor am I likely to. My brain just not wired that way...( see above re facts and stats ) I've liked geographical, historical, demographic, social sciences as well as climatology, so I like climatic comparisons that have elements of all the topics i'm interested in. Oh, if there is a piss take element that can be introduced into the subject, well I'm up for that as well. I'm pretty much interested in the same things, and have always loved looking at Wiki climate boxes of cities around the world. That's why I enjoy coming up with climate battles - the boxes are pretty, and it's interesting to compare different places. I'm not as into actual weather that's happening, though I have been learning a lot on weather patterns lately, i.e. what causes a place to have its climate. It helps to understand the context behind the stats I love to look at. |

Climate battles are gaytime. Change my mind. Nobody cares what rating you give to what climate, we already know your weather preferences. There is rarely any discussion created by these climate battles. I mean, if Steelernation gives a climate X a rating of Y, does it really create any discussion at all? No. And I know exactly what climates Steeler likes, and that is not because of climate battles, but him talking about, you know... actual climates. I get Razza's point about gatekeeping, but if your forum presence is only "A+ for this climate" or "C- for that climate", are you really being a net positive just because you bring up the posts per day count? I'd say no. Keep doing the climate battles and ratings all you want, I'm not saying that they are bad. They are just irrelevant for forum activity.

Take away the climate battle posts from the stats....would be lucky to be 40 or 50 a day in that case....mmmm ...very healthy.
Remove 'shoutbox' feature... would get waaay less participation forum wide...
