I'm surprised there isn't yet a college football thread. OU's first game against Tulane got moved from New Orleans to Norman because of Hurricane Ida.

Maybe should merge this with the NFL thread and make a general football thread? Don’t think many follow college football on here.
It’s definitely a bigger thing in the south and Midwest. I’ll watch college football and pay attention, but I’ve never really cared that much about any team or gotten really into it.
Not college football, but a fake high school team somehow convinced ESPN to show it playing the nation’s top high school team. Apparently the school doesn’t exist and the players are mostly community college dropouts, not high schoolers, played twice in 3 days, and the coach has a warrant for fraud. Wild, hilarious story.

I'd be fine merging this thread with the other one, but if we did that, we should probably change the name to American Football instead of NFL.
I mostly only follow college football because I go to OU, which is a big football school.
Very strange. High school football is a big thing in Texas and Oklahoma, but since I didn't go to high school here, I never really got into it.

Rough game for my Miami Hurricanes. Lost 44-13, but what do you expect against Alabama?

I'm fine with merging the threads. Penn State vs Wisconsin was some trademark BIG 10 football today. 0-0 at halftime , only 16-10 total. Also had a missed extra point, a blocked field goal, multiple turnovers in the red zone, and a guy ejected for tackling the quarterback.

Nice. I saw part of that game, including the blocked field goal returned for a TD.

I don't know why Iowa is taking a knee here. They're going to have to punt the football. That's really strange.

Well, Iowa still won. I just don't think I've ever seen that before - that is, taking a knee when you can't mathematically run out the clock. Usually, you just run the ball in that situation.

Bama lost. Today is a good day in college football.

Close call. I think the Michigan State guy was losing control of the ball before he crossed the goal line. But, since the ruling was a TD, it's too close to overturn the call.

Bad call in the Baylor v. OSU game. That was not a forward pass. Left the QB's arm at the 21 yard line and hit the ground at the 21. Should have been called a fumble.

The last play in the Baylor/OSU game was quite interesting.
One of my friends is a Michigan fan, and I watched the Michigan/Iowa game with him. It was fun to see the Wolverines win the Big 10 title for the first time since 2004.
