Ah, I see. And I hadn't realize that a climate like Warrnambool exists in Victoria. I thought the Victorian south coast is filled with areas having winters akin to Melbourne's and Sale's, with 'anemic' winter rainfall. Interesting stuff. Now I'm guessing things gets a bit upwind-y in Victoria from around Ballarat...? Such climates as Warrnambool actually cover a much larger area of VIC, than Melbourne/Sale type climates. As a general rule, anywhere north or west of Kilmore Gap is on the prevailing upwind. Noted. Is Cape Otway on the windward side (although it's south of Kilmore Gap and it's facing the southern ocean like Melb)? But its strong winter precipitation is very telling of a windward location. I don't know. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cape_Otway#Climate

D-; boring, not enough rain, no snow, not nearly enough seasonal range. But it's very pleasant.

B+. One of the best climates in Australia but those record highs in summer caused a downward adjustment from A-.

C. How is this cloudier than Melbourne (at least in sunshine hours)?

C. How is this cloudier than Melbourne (at least in sunshine hours)? Yeah, weird. It has more 'clear days', and yet its cloudier by less than 200 hours. Must've been a different time period. I remember Melbourne having 2,100 hrs in one of its 30 year normals (or maybe that's the all-time figure?).
