What's the coldest you got? -40'C or thereabouts? You'd think that would be extreme-sounding enough for use as a "lordy it's cold" temperature, but I guess not. Just like how in January 2019 when we got the monster cold snap, it was "-50'F" here. Nope. Not even close. -41.4C yesterday morning apparently. Monstrously cold but people still constantly refer to the windchill as the actual temperature. Very annoying. People quoting the wind chill as an actual temperature is annoying as fuck. My mom has a bad habit of doing this, don't really have the heart to correct her but I'm always screaming internally when she does it.

When people visit the UK on holiday for a week, experience a couple of brief showers, and then say they must have been "very lucky" to avoid non-stop rain.

This was already mentioned in the previous page, but I absolutely can not stand it when TV weather presenters insert their own stupid biases into the forecast. Was watching the local news yesterday, fucking weather lady goes "we're back to nice, balmy conditions after that very cold weather last week" ah yes, the horror of 19 C highs and 4 C lows, how terrible.
Fuck's sakes lady. We're warm/hot 90-95% of the time, what the fuck are you cheering on warm weather for in winter? What more do you want?! People down here who whine when it gets chilly for a couple of days are the fucking worst.

Especially when the temperatures they're referring to as "really really hot!" or "really really cold!" are in fact average for the time of year. In particular, around here fall 2016 was very mild. In December when we had a few nights of seasonable temperatures (teens Fahrenheit), everyone reacted as though it was the biggest arctic blast in five years when in fact the low one particular morning was ONE WHOLE DEGREE BELOW AVERAGE. Another thing that drives me nuts is when every single weather event, regardless of what kind of weather event it is, automatically gets blamed on "global warming". There's a difference between climate and weather, and if a station has been in operation for only 20 years, of course it wouldn't have seen this once-in-100-years heat wave or cold snap before.

I experienced this exact same thing in early January 2016 after the record warm December 2015. We had a "cold snap" in early January (which wasn't really a cold snap, just a front that knocked temperatures back down to seasonal) to about 73/55 weather or so, and all of a sudden everyone is whining about the fucking cold and dressing like they're in Vostok in the middle of August. As if we didn't just have a record warm month in an already very warm/hot climate. Fucking idiots. Yeah 73/55 weather is gonna kill you.

Coming from my standpoint, seeing people complain about those particular temperatures is especially ridiculous. Around here 73/55 is a nice June or September day. Apparently Majami's messed-up temperature perception is more common than I'd thought.

Indeed, but a foreigner watching it won’t know that. They’ll just see a rainy London and think it’s appropriate because of the stereotypes they know. The bad weather in 2012 really couldn’t have occurred at a worse time.

When there's a cold snap or polar vortex, some people say that that means there's no such thing as global warming/climate change.

^ that "uk cold/heat hits different" tweet goes viral every winter/summer, same as the "im from X cold/hot country and UK cold/heat is horrible" tweet.

Heat in the UK feels weak compared to in Europe even at the same temperature. Anywhere in France/Spain/Italy feels hotter than the UK in, say, 30°C, largely because the sun is stronger, and it's usually more humid. 30°C in France felt much hotter than 35C in Sheffield did in my experience.

Fun fact: at temperatures below about 3C the air is simply too cold to hold much moisture at all, even at 100% humidity. "Dry cold / wet cold" is BS, all cold is dry cold

Just heard this: "it's muggy". You've heard it right, it's supposedly muggy @ 49N in February.

I would honestly like to find a single instance of a 100/25F day that was ever recorded anywhere on the planet. Closest thing I could find is on page 8 of this thread.
