Pretty much anything Chicagogeorge says when the UK has a summer heatwave or an Arctic blast in winter.

To be fair 95F is a cool summer day in Phoenix lol. Still obviously idiotic to compare it to Seattle though.

People dramatising fairly regular months to make it seem extreme even though it's fairly regular. Usually it's pretty amusing. Apologies beercules not trying to target you just this quote reminded me to post this in the first place. Tbf -1.2c for Maxima is quite annoying. Especially when combined with ABOVE average minima, as it usually means that the month has been cloudier and more humid than normal

Idk why this is sucha common talking point here... I don’t get it A lot of people here think X degrees in the uk is hotter than X degrees somewhere else and they will usually say its because its so humid here even though we almost always have low humidity when it actually gets hot

Because in Spain they are dressed for a day at the beach. In the UK they are usually wearing jeans and a tshirt.

A freezing Finn in Latin America is a weirdo - In Finland again many think of the whole continent as tropical
Something what the correspondent have heard:
You cannot be cold because you come from Finland!
You're freezing?!
I didn't know that people from Finland could feel cold.
Comment from a Finnish friend of hers when another Finn came back from Argentina during the Southern Hem winter: "Why aren't you tanned at all?"

I'm going for a tropical Latin vacation! It's my June vacation, so a perfect time to visit First stop, Bogota! Then a trek farther south to the beautiful tropical paradise of Lima, Peru Followed up by a trip to steamy Cuzco and La Paz I'll end my tropical jungle vacation in Patagonia I like to travel light, I'll only be bringing a couple of t-shirts and some swimming trunks wish me luck!

A few common things I hear fairly regularly in Saskatoon/on the prairies that really bug me:
• Saying that the humidity in Vancouver makes the winters there feel colder than on the prairies.
• Exaggeration of the climate out here - for instance saying that it's -40 all winter long when that doesn't happen on the vast majority of years, or that winter lasts 8 months every year.
• Taking the humidex or windchill values and presenting them as the actual air temperature. The worst is when I occasionally hear people say something like "It was -50 without the windchill this past winter" in locations where the all-time record low is several degrees warmer than that and dates back to the 1800s. Ugh.

"Florida is always hot" "Alaska is always cold" "Arizona is always hot and dry" "Mexico/Australia/Africa is always hot"
Then we have the people who base their entire perceptions of a place's climate on one record event, like "Phoenix gets to 50'C all the time in the summer" when that's literally the all-time record high. "Miami can't be a tropical or even subtropical climate; it snowed there once!"
"It's a dry heat" in places like Dubai - it doesn't rain much, but it's still really humid.
Fellow Wisconsin natives who complain about the heat or cold at relatively moderate temperatures. I still remember having PE outside one day in 9th grade and everyone was complaining about how goddamned cold it was, can't we go in already, stuff like that. The temperature: 11'C
The one that gets on my nerves the absolute most is passing off the heat index or wind chill as the actual temperature. "It's 33'C out there with the humidity" - no it's not, it's only 27 and that's a balmy temperature! After the January-February 2019 cold snap everyone was talking about how it was -50'F outside. NO IT WASN'T! Mention the actual lowest temperature it got to (-26'F which is still ridiculously cold by anyone's standards) and you're the one who gets called crazy/drunk/a liar. UGH!

Farken oath! Absolutely agreed with this. Unfortunately, there are quite a few members on here who quote the "heat index" as if it means anything.

Ugh. I'm almost eight months late on this post, but Jesus fuck this is on point. That exaggeration of climate even happens in climates much milder than Saskatoon I had the displeasure of hearing many DC/Virginia residents talk about winter there as if it were Siberia. I've seen some Wikipedia articles, especially for foreign places, that the description of the climate is completely stupid. Especially if it's known for being cold or hot within the country. Descriptions such as "in the winter, it's not unusual for temps to fall below -30 C" but the record low is like -25 C, lol.

This thread. "Several big weather events have all happened on the big date - it's gotta be a conspiracy! Does God put all the bad weather on one day of the year? Is it due to climate change!" Then 10 posts later, "I never mentioned climate change!"

People complaining that London has shitty summers. I wish my summers were like London. That's not stupid, just different preferences. London DOES have shitty summers if you like warm/hot summers.
