I can't imagine trying to chase a nocturnal tornado. I know some people do it, but it seems like a high risk, low reward type of thing to do.
Here are some photos and video of the damage from the tornadoes last night.

[/div][/quote] you know why the squall lines containing the tornadoes eventually weakened? Appalachian Mountains? Wonder how much warning people had, did many seek shelter and the few caught in the buildings that got destroyed unaware.

Wonder how much warning people had, did many seek shelter and the few caught in the buildings that got destroyed unaware. I think I saw that the storms moved into a more stable airmass. I also heard that some people were working in a factory when it got hit. I imagine some people might not have heard tornado sirens or the alerts from their weather radios.

A prodigiously cold start to December over the eastern side of the Snowies: Nothing too special here though—as usual with southerly systems. And to give an incredible example of the variability within the Australian Continent, the north west Pilbara town of Roebourne is running a +5.1c anomaly for max temps as opposed to the -6.3c max temp anomaly at the south eastern town of Cooma. La Nina conditions in the south east are generally cooler and wetter, and in the north and west hotter and often drier than normal.

Mild and windy conditions yesterday with scattered showers and storms, felt downright warm with a high/low of 67/45 @ LGA and 60/43 @ Farmingdale. What’s more impressive is that these high temps were recorded last evening in pitch-black conditions. Today’s had highs of 59 and 56 respectively, both recorded at midnight.

Some parts of the Vancouver region saw a bit more snow last night (1-3cm). Been lots of cold rain and slush this month so far.

This is hilarious. EXTREME, UNADULTERATED COLD in Adelaide today compared to here. A southerly assault moved in, which made for a horrifying day there. Ofcourse, the same southerlies made it here, but far more neutered, which is how it should be. Even Port Augusta had an astonishingly cold high of 22C, which is only 10C below average Got to 37C here, exactly 17C warmer than Adelaide. Nice. Adelaide. It's more like Tasmania. Insane. Here

Nice day today, high was 57 (14 c). Honestly if it’s not snowing, this is very close to ideal winter weather. Cool but not cold, very pleasant for being outside in a sweatshirt. Went for a walk at the reservoir out by the foothills.
Shitchester had a 64 (18 c) high yesterday followed by a cold front with 60 mph winds. That’s pretty epic weather.

We've hit 75°F/24°C four times this December. This is the first December on record where that has occurred, and above our 1890-2021 average for November.
