A cool temperate rain forest region in southern Victoria ( south west of Melbourne ) in the Otway Ranges. Now this place doesn't have a fancy Wikibox with eyecatching colours, but the hard climate stats are pretty self explanatory to me.... lol Put it this way...I doubt one needs to spend much money on sunscreen products ! The former member whose name cannot be mentioned would know substantially more than I re the climate drivers of this place, suffice to say that cold frontal westerlies dominate the region, the weather is extremely changeable at all times of the year. Although it is the wettest region in Victoria, during El Nino years and times of drought, severe and life threatening bushfires impact the region, notably in 1983 and 2009. Oh and for all you West Coast/PNW afficionados out there, well there are some large stands of California Redwoods that were planted before WW2. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redwoods_of_the_Otway_RangesThe BOM stats/data Rainfall Max Temps Min Temps And, just to reinforce the vagaries of the summers in southern Victoria, and Weeaproinah in particular, check out the summers in 1992 and 2009 www.melbourneplaygrounds.com.au/otway-fly-treetop-walk-weeaproinah

Btw, its climate data is found in the Great Otway National Park article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Otway_National_ParkThe place fits in Southern England, minus the record highs and heavy rainfall! Absolutely gross anyway. Beautiful location though:

Using 1992 is cheating, lol.
Anyway, I'll give it an E. It's hot garbage but not quite an F.

Let's not have this City-Data attitude. Nothing wrong with keeping the half-dead forum alive! If you wanted to make new rate the climate threads, by all means go ahead, that would be great! But gravedigging years old threads that many people have already responded to isn’t very interesting and just burries the few actual new threads. I, for one, have been turned off making rate the climate threads because it could just get buried under 30 old threads at any time and barely anyone would reply.

I've made a few new rate the climate threads before, but I was told that they exist. So that kinda threw me off. But to be fair, only very few new threads are created here. Of course, we should always bump newer threads. I'll try to make that happen.

E. Really nasty, like taking a cold shower for most of the year. I'll bet they never even get snow or storms. The only good point is the occasional summer heatwaves. PNW is better than this - they at least have dry summers with consistently warm days.

Ah that surprises me. But, yes, seeing as the record lows are barely below freezing I wouldn't be expecting much of a snowpack I'll bet they get a ton of muddy slush every winter, even worse

I take it that their winters are pretty stable, and their summers rather are very changeable (like most of SE Australia).

^^ Winters on the Victorian south west coast are still subject to the frontal westerlies Spring, Summer and Autumn the changeability is more pronounced and there are larger temp fluctuations in these seasons. Even in winter, a 'blocking' Tasman high can produce 'stable' weather in winter for up to a week or more before another Southern Ocean/Indian ocean cold front moves through. media.bom.gov.au/social/blog/2391/the-art-of-the-chart-how-to-read-a-weather-map/

C-. Anemic temperatures year round but the high precipitation is great, although there are a few too many precipitation days in winter. Snow and summer thunderstorms are also not too common I presume. This climate almost looks like a bastardisation of my dream climate.

Snow and summer thunderstorms are also not too common I presume. This climate almost looks like a bastardisation of my dream climate. There's always some storms around that area in summer. Whenever I've checked the radar on days where storms are forecast, 9 times out of 10 I'll see something around the Otways and Geelong.

I didn't think the southwestern/windward parts of the Otways were that prone to summer storms. That's still not enough for me to increase my rating though.

E+, assuming 1900 hours of sunshine. Far too wet with drizzle, and too cool. Likely stunning views though.
