The record highs in summer and the record low in July in the wikibox look fake Most of Australia is known for its extreme record highs. I think Beercules is refering to the all time high temp ocurring in March ( and also substantially higher than in the summer months ) And that -2c all time min temp is anomalous compared to the other winter months. These are the figures from the old manual site at the Green Cape Lighthouse, with the record high in January as one would expect.

Have we ranked the climate of every single human settlement in Australia yet? We must be getting close. Don't think so, and a human settlement could be single blackfella under a spinifex bush in the Gibson Desert....I'll see if we can find some data....

Tibooburra Some of that Green Cape data looks suspect... I thought it was a bit too dry for its coastal facing location. Even its rainy days are feeble. But it seems legit as per BOM (the record high in March and record low).

The record highs in summer and the record low in July in the wikibox look fake Most of Australia is known for its extreme record highs. I think it's because the autumn month of March has a higher record high than the summer months. That is pretty rare and unheard of for Australia. Our record highs usually occur in midsummer or even in late spring (particularly the semi-arid areas near the tropics). You will never get a record high in March or April for that matter -- But maybe Greysrigging can prove me wrong.

No, you are spot on....although it must be said there is some seasonal lag in the far south of the continent and Tasmania ( and in the south island of NZ ). Of course by the time March comes around, the sun angle and length of the day impacts upon the potential heat. March in the deep south can also produce a week or more of heatwave conditions, especially so with a big blocking High out in the Tasman Sea dragging hot northerlies from the interior. Melbourne in March 1940 is a classic example: And so is Adelaide in 2008: And it should be noted that taking into account the older manual site and the new AWS at Green Cape, the all time record high occurred in January 1969, 37.4c. There were a few March records set along the south coast of NSW in 2018, but only Green Cape set a new all time ( for the AWS, not the Site in general ) record max.

Tough one - I like Green Cape's temperatures but I'm going to have to go with Coolangatta for the rainfall.

Wentworth for those awesome hot dry summers and cool to mild winters. It could use much more winter rain though.

for me: 1.Green Cape (B)- Literally my home climate with 1ºC colder days 2.Coolangatta (B-); summers a bit too hot and humid; but the rest of the year is great 3.Wentworth (C+); not bad temps, but simply too dry. 4.Tibooburra (C-); too dry and warm for much of the year

Coolangatta I guess, I'm in the mood for warmer climates now, but it's a tossup between it and Green Cape for being the two with decent rain.

Green Cape is perfect in both temperature pattern and amount of precipitation.

So some extra info re Etheral's thread on the 4 corners of NSW. I've been to close to all of them... Cape Green: Not visited here, but its on the bucket list to do... crossed the border on the Princess Hwy ( Highway 1 in AU ) a few times. Wentworth: The Abbotsford bridge crossing the Murray River ( NSW-VIC border ) Tiboorburra: An hour and a bit east of the Cameron's Corner ( the place where 3 States meet... SA, QLD and NSW Coolangatta/Tweed Heads: The State Border runs down a main street... :
