@11:00am
Overcast
PWS: 23.5C/16.8C, Airport: 23.3C/16.6C
Cool change is through, bit muggy outside, can definitely smell the dewpoint after months of negative DPs.

7.2C and light rain. Where are the icy westerlies when you need them? In UmeΓ₯ apparently Baba says it's -13Β°C there today! Here, five degrees nearer the tropics it's equally sunny but 3.7Β°C instead because of Atlantic background warmth or something! Always interesting when there's such a massive difference along the same coast because of the mountain shadow effect. Have you gotten any icy westerlies yet or have you been hit by Gulf southerlies and strong warmth instead?

The university station is pretty close to what the temps would be in the city center. A thermometer at the bus station was reading -4'C for example while the airport was reading -12'C and the university -7'C.

Have you seen what the temps were like at HolmΓΆn? I assume any warmth source will quickly moderate those temps this early in winter when the sea will still be mild? We get crazy hinterland temps in frost hollows too though sometimes. The -19Β°C low downtown while Floda near Katrineholm was -28.2Β°C in January this year stands out. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if the airport just 7 km inland from me would've recorded -23Β°C or something with such a divide.

UmeΓ₯ airport is ridiculous for frost traps. And actually, the house thermometer in TavelsjΓΆ only showed -10'C, but that one is of course just 5cm away from the kitchen window.

3.2Β°C but not as autumnish as it sounds like, even though the high was about 5Β°C today. On merely slightly higher elevation in the Bryngelstorp area I was balancing around the front wheel of the bike like it was about to fall off a cliff at any moment because of those glistening patches of frozen stuff on the asphalt following the cold snap the other day. Way more damp than it should be after a sunny day too. The low sun angle, low temps and the high humidity really don't help one bit.
