Hello all! Below the data of the Monemvasia station in SE Continental Greece. Its about 17-18 years worth of data and includes the Feb 2008 data, which was the month when most absolute minimum T records in coastal Greece fell for almost half a century. Do you see it dropping below 0C any time soon? It's the only area in Continental Greece that has never recorded a freeze.

Oh and also its a 11a plant hardiness zone with an average of absolute minimums at 4.5C
As far as I know again its the only area in continental Greece falling in the 11a zone

Given the places you've posted about, it seems you prefer mild/warm weather - there aren't a lot of us on this forum but I'm the same way.

Iโm guessing not if it hasnโt already and it includes the biggest cold snap in many years

I thought there were many of us here who preferred warmer climates!

I mean the dynamic is there...Even the port of Malaga recorded -4C in the big freeze they had in the 1950's

This forum's got a huge contingency of "polar foamers" who like all things cold and snowy. Basically it's just me and a handful of others (including Benny and Metsfan) who prefer it on the warmer side of things. We're vocal about it because we know we're the minority

Sub 20c mins and sub 30c maxs, Darwinites remark upon there being 'a chill in the air'. Sub 15c mins and sub 25c maxs get media coverage....lol So you can likely guess my stance on the heat/cold preference issue....haha

For those claiming โbotevingโ, this station seems legit. Itโs on a tiny peninsula thatโs basically an island, which is attached by a narrow isthmus to another larger peninsula. So yeah, an ideal location for not recording freezes. On whether it could record a freeze in the future, Iโd say itโs unlikely, but Iโd be pretty confident that it has done so in the past before the weather station started.
Also those of us that prefer subtropical or tropical temperature rรฉgimes are thankfully in the majority. Cheesehead, Tommy, Benny, Firebird, Jets, Greys, Beercules, and myself all hold these preferences. So deluded polar foamers are the minority. This forum is a tolerant place as far as subtropical wanking goes. Go to AmericanWX or SouthernWX and polar foamers are the domaneering majority, and anyone who opposes them is shunned.

These land formations are usually called ''tied islands'' which are basically a part of the mainland connected by a tompolo. In any case this area in the only place in mainland Greece that we do not have a reliable frost record. Logic says that it has done so in the past but it puzzles me that it escaped the 2008 cold snap which was epic and various coastal areas (even some islands) in Greece recorded a strong frost.
