Well, that's June done and dusted... It's been a 'Claytons' dry season so far.... as it's the dry season, but certainly hasn't felt like it in the Top End with well above mean temperatures, high DP's and humidity. No rain recorded at my place, and 0.2mm at the Airport was a heavy dew rather than precipitation. We only recorded 4 sub 20c minimums for the month; the previous month there were 14 sub 20c mins. The southern and central parts of the NT have had a typical rollercoaster month of changeable conditions ie warm days in the mid 20c's and only one sub zero minimum. The outstanding feature climatically in June has been an intense series of North West Cloudbands causing flooding and 'polar' temperatures across the Alice Springs region in the last week of June. DARWIN AIRPORT: Rainfall - 0.2mm ( long term mean 1.8mm- median 0.0mm ) Highest daily fall - 0.0mm ( the 0.2mm was a heavy dew ) Max temps - 32.6c av ( long term mean 30.7c ) Highest max - 34.1c on the 6th and 8th. Lowest max - 31.1c on the 3rd and 22nd ( every day of June above the long term mean ! ) Min temps - 21.6c av ( long term mean 20.0c ) Highest min - 25.1c on the 26th. Lowest min - 17.4c on the 18th Last 12 months max, min and rainfall ALICE SPRINGS AIRPORT: Rainfall - 19.6mm falling on 6 days ( long term mean 13.0mm, median 3.9mm ) Highest daily fall - 14.6mm on the 28th Max temps - 21.8c av ( long term mean 19.9c ) Highest max - 29.7c on the 6th. Lowest max - 8.7c on the 30th. Min temps - 6.6c av ( long term mean 4.9c ) Highest min - 15.9c on the 7th. Lowest min -0.5c on the 23rd Last 12 months, max, min and rainfall

Synopsis: This June did, in fuckt, prove to be a worthless below average dry gaydom - what else is new? After the INCREDIBLY SHIT subpolar start to the month was (with the first sub-50°F low at the AP in June since 1977), the second half of the month improved. The warmest maxima of this month is the coldest on record (no previous June saw a monthly maxima below 91°F in the entire month - I mean, literally no precedent), can you believe that shit? That is, in no way, acceptable. I could go on, but I'm not going to waste quite as much time on using Beercules jargon terms and pisstaking for this one, as at least pleasantly warm temps have dominated for the latter part of the month, the final week has all been within 2°F of the daily normals, due to a building ridge following an upper low bringing a brief period of showers and T-storms; and you can't really go wrong with Julys here. jsfiddle.net/kf7zmnxe/1/Average 2 AM temperature: 69.6°F (20.9°C) Average 8 AM temperature: 71.4°F (21.9°C) Average 2 PM temperature: 80.7°F (27.1°C) Average 8 PM temperature: 77.1°F (25.1°C) Average 2 AM dewpoint: 66.3°F (19.1°C) Average 8 AM dewpoint: 67.2°F (19.6°C) Average 2 PM dewpoint: 67.1°F (19.5°C) Average 8 PM dewpoint: 66.8°F (19.3°C) Max. dewpoint: 78.7°F (25.9°C) on the 26th, 12:43 PM Min. dewpoint: 49.5°F (9.7°C) on the 5th, 5:22 PM Difference between true daily mean vs. max/min / 2: -0.4°F (-0.2°C) Largest diurnal range: 26.5°F (14.7°C) on the 10th Smallest diurnal range: 9.1°F (5.1°C) on the 4th Mean time of daily high and mean time of daily high after solar noon (not including highs which occurred at night): 3:48 PM (+2 hrs 40 mins) No. precipitation days (>=0.01"): 10 No. precipitation days (>=0.04"): 10 No. precipitation days (>=0.1"): 10 No. precipitation days (>=0.4"): 5 No. precipitation days (>=1"): 0 Max. rainfall rate (1-min. avg.): 3.00"/hr (76.2 mm/hr) on the 23rd, 4:38-4:39 PM Max. rainfall rate (10-min. avg.): 1.56"/hr (39.6 mm/hr) on the 23rd, 4:32-4:42 PM Max. temperature of measurable precipitation: 82.2°F (27.9°C) on the 12th, 1:08 PM Min. temperature of measurable precipitation: 62.7°F (17.1°C) on the 8th, 2:12 AM Highest barometric pressure: 30.07 in (1018.3 mb) on the 29th Lowest barometric pressure: 29.63 in (1003.4 mb) on the 16th ________________________________________________________________________ Monthly departures at New Bern ASOS (relative to 1991-2020 normals): Average high: -1.9°F (-1.1°C; 20th coldest on record) Mean: -2.1°F (-1.2°C; 12th coldest on record) Average low: -2.2°F (-1.2°C; 12th coldest on record) Precipitation: -0.52" (-13.2 mm; 89% of normal; 30th driest on record) ________________________________________________________________________ New records at New Bern ASOS: Lowest monthly max on record (fuck you to hell in my asshole ) ________________________________________________________________________

June ended up being slightly hotter than an average July. The first half of the month was the warmest while the second half saw more seasonal temperatures for the most part. Just like May, we got most of our precipitation in a couple of major rain storms with very little rain the rest of the month. Stats: Average high: 26.6C (normal: 22.4C) Average low: 11.8C (normal: 9.2C) Mean temperature: 19.2C (normal: 15.8C) Warmest high: 32.9C (June 5th) Warmest low: 18.8C (June 5th) Coldest high: 19.7C (June 21st) Coldest low: 4.6C (22nd) Precipitation total: 43.8mm (normal: 65.8mm) Precipitation days: 7 (normal: 12.1)

June 2023 Summary, SE SheffieldThe first week and a bit saw a cool easterly wind as had seen out May. This did, at times, bring north sea clag, suppressing temperatures on a few days, despite the high pressure. Into the second week, the wind direction began to move from the south-east, seeing a dramatic increase in temperature, and the pressure fell from the west. The warmest day of the month, the 12th, then saw some thunder activity in the vicinity but this area missed the frequent thunderstorm and convection that affected much of the country from 10th-12th. Into the third week, the temperature remained warm, and by 17th another low to the west moved over Ireland bringing a more humid and unstable airmass, particularly into 18th, which gave two thunderstorms, the most notable being that of the evening in which 1.4" rain fell in less than an hour, with hail included. There was another dump of rain in the AM of 20th, with temperatures remaining warm for another five days. Cooler and showery weather arrived in the last 5 days. These days appear to have a lot of trace amounts of rain; in reality this was not rainy weather at all but rather the odd light shower that often lasted just a few minutes, or even seconds. The total duration of rain for June was 7.9 hours; total sunshine, 207 hours, and the temperature was over 2°C above average, so it would be in the top 5 or 10 warmest Junes locally.

This month's averages were close to record territory for much of the time, but the cold end dropped them down to less insane levels.

2.9F warmer than normal and 2.72" less rain than normal. Was 0.1F from making top 10 warmest Junes. Quite hot and muggy starting mid-month with high pressure ridge becoming dominant. Came close but didn't make it to 100F at the airport. Much of central and south LA was drier than normal and missed severe storms that tracked across north LA. Did get some good t-storms on June 20th with some large hail in the area. Had 11 days with thunder.
