Fan aspiration effectively cancels out any T bias in the NOA stations. In fact they have been proven to be more accurate than ground SS stations in Greece. Here is the nearby station in Malia, which is a ground WMO Davis station from NOA which also registered around 35C on the 4th of November. oscar.wmo.int/surface/#/search/station/stationReportDetails/0-300-1-maliacmpGenerally speaking we have seen from our huge Davis network from the National Observatory of Athens that T biases are next to none when it comes to max T's. We have run multiple parallel comparisons with Stevenson Screen stations and in fact there is a consistent negative bias from the Davis stations! Basically the fan aspiration does wonders eliminating any max T biases to the point that it underestimates T's compared to nearby Stevenson Screen stations. This is why WMO has provided all the NOA stations with WMO id's. Here how Greece looked on the 4th of November as extreme foehn winds swept Crete Yale corroborates as wellAlso Fodele registered 35.2C from the Davis station of Creta Weather Network on that day but it's a non WMO station. Posted here for posterity: web.archive.org/web/20231104113218/https://fodele.cretaweather.gr/NOAAMO.TXTOne more example of how strongly the WMO station in Sisi is affected by the fohn winds Greece registered today 30.0C at 6.40 am in Sisi and again 30.0C at 2.50 am in Chania South WMO station. You don't see that frequently during a March night. Crete was burning during the night due to the strong Sahara fohn winds!

London's March rainfall currently stands at 84.6mm. The wettest on record was 2001 with 95.3mm. I'd say there is a 90% chance that March 2024 will take the record.

In late July and early August of 2022, the Indian monsoon for a short period anomalously extended into the Arabian Peninsula which caused extreme rains in southeastern Arabian Peninsula.
Oman and UAE recorded over 200 mm of rains in some places, and there was a place in Oman that recorded over 300 mm of rain in a day.
The Empty Quarter desert had almost daily extreme thunderstorms that developed at noon time and continued till dawn of the next day, fueled by extreme heating. There are no weather stations of the area, but if there was a weather station, we would have seen impressive rainfall totals that we can only see normally in the west coast of India.
In Qatar, on 28th July 2022 my area recorded 74.9 mm of rain and the max temps for some stations failed to reach 30°C, breaking the record for the coolest summer day on record.
The max temps in some places of the Empty quarter desert were more than 20°C below normal.
The event mostly affected the southeast of the Peninsula, but there were some impressive figures elsewhere. Sanaa, Yemen in the southwest had 787 mm of rain in July 2022.

I was looking to see if any stations in Canada had yet to reach freezing this year. Usually it takes until late May or early June for the coldest spots. Looks like every station did by now. Alert, Nunavut just reached freezing today (0.3C at 9am local time) for the first time in weeks, but looking back, Alert reached +2.2C (36.0F) on April 29th. This is a new record high! False alarm, see edit. Previous record (pre 2021) was -0.2 on April 23, 1978. Wiki page: Alert Nunavut |||||| Wiki box Official 1991-2020 normals Edit: False alarm. It reached +2.4C (36.3F) on April 30, 2021. I only checked 2021-2024, but if it happened before 2020 it should have been in the official normals. Still pretty impressive that it broke freezing twice in the last 4 years, after never doing it before (1950-2020). Edit 2: Svartevaeg which is almost as far north as Alert just reached freezing today. This is the first above-freezing temperature for that station since September 18th, and it was the last station to reach freezing this spring. Latitude doesn't seem to matter much - Pond Inlet has only reached 0.3C at 72N and 62m elevation. Dewar Lakes was one of the latest last year due to elevation (68N, 527m) but the station isn't reporting this year. Last 24 hours for SvartevaegDaily data

The Melbourne CBD flash floods 1972: Melbourne recorded a 75mm downpour in the space of 17 minutes that drenched the inner city as well as surrounding suburbs such as Carlton, Brunswick, Fitzroy and Richmond. The floods began to form in the city between 4pm and 5pm in the afternoon, creating further chaos with the peak hour traffic.
