Places to watch... Paraburdoo with some 48c's in the forecast and Minilya Roadhouse also a 48c forecast. 48c is about ( theoretically ) as high a temp as one would expect in Paraburdoo given the altitude of 424m asl. I would say Nyang ( Emu Creek Station ) 111m asl and Minilya 15m asl, more likely candidates for a 50c being at lower altitude.

Big diurnals for SW Finland today due to mild front incoming. 1.8C/-19.9C diurnal here, 1.6C/-26.4C for Salo 50 km east of Turku, and 2.0C/-23.5C for Kemiö 50 km southeast of Turku.
Dr. Babu Wethu has us beat though. I see 0C/-29.5C for Umeå Airport.

Coldest morning of season thus far here, with last night's low being 21.7°F (-5.7°C), which is also the coldest temp I've experienced in more than a year. Nice thaw incoming from Tuesday on, with multiple consecutive 70s °F highs in the forecast late in the week, BRING IT ON. There is no thaw for us. There was never a snow/ice pack to begin with, thankfully.

Windy last night, up to 90 km/h @ Orly airport. Up to 124 km/h on top of the Eiffel tower. Wow, didn't quite realize that Auckland was that heat-starved given its not-so-cool averages.

Extreme heat and heavy rain targeting Pilbara ( source: weatherzone ) A burst of record-challenging heat will be followed by heavy rain and thunderstorms in the Pilbara this week, as a tropical low drifts towards northwestern Australia. A very hot air mass has been sitting over the north of WA for the past several weeks, pushing temperatures into the mid-to-high forties every day since the middle of December. This relentless heat will intensify even further on Tuesday, possibly pushing the mercury close to 50ºC in parts of the Pilbara under the influence of a surge of southerly winds. The images below shows that two global forecast models are picking temperatures over 50ºC in the Pilbara on Tuesday. If temperatures do get as high as these models are predicting, there is no guarantee that it will be observed at one of the Bureau of Meteorology’s weather stations in the region. The southerly winds that will drive hot air into the Pilbara on Tuesday are located on the western flank of a low pressure trough situated across the north of WA. Within this trough is a tropical low that has been causing heavy rain in the NT over the last one to two weeks. Some areas of the NT have received several hundred millimetres of rain over the last fortnight, with Elliot’s 433 mm during the past 12 days amounting to three times its January monthly average. This rain-bearing low pressure system has now moved across the border into WA and will continue to spread rain and storms across the state’s north over the next few days. Most forecast models suggest the low will move towards the west and soak inland areas of the Pilbara and parts of the state’s Interior over the next few days. Some models predict 50 to 100 mm of rain over a broad area stretching from the North Interior across to the Southern Pilbara between now and Thursday. Locally intense rainfall due to thunderstorms could produce six-hourly rain rates of up to 100 mm in this area. However, there is some uncertainty regarding where and how much rain will fall, highlighted by images below. Showers and storms will extend further west into the Pilbara and Gascoyne from Friday, eroding the hot air mass that has gripped the regions for months. A severe weather warning and flood watch have been issued for the northern inland of WA in response to this system. Be sure to stay up to date with the latest warnings for the most accurate information on this developing weather event.

just saw a news update on an msm channel ...... "ADELAIDE WAS THE HOTTEST MAJOR CITY ON THE PLANET TODAY, 41C, FIRST TIME IN 3 YEARS IT WAS THIS HOT"
Don't know what's worse.... this dumb fuck hyperbole, or that Adelaide hasn't reached 41C in 3 years
well it makes sense, 3 years corresponds perfectly with the initialisation of our gay new age permafuck la nina climate, and the wuhan yellow fever.

First all-time high of the year in Argentina, and the winner is... Bariloche. New record is 36.4C. Previous record from any Bariloche station was 35.5C on February 9, 1944, in the old observatory (no longer existing). Previous record from the currently working Airport station was 35.4C on February 15, 2019, a kill maeself reading considering it was 0.1C shy from the old observatory record.
There's an on going heat wave in Northern Patagonia, which is going to be very long. More records might be broken.
