I don't believe for a minute that it will reach 16C here because that would be a record high for the month but I'd love this forecast to come off. This would probably be the biggest cold front we've ever seen! LOL how is that even possible? That would mean the temperature would instantly drop from 12 °C to 1 °C within seconds

This would probably be the biggest cold front we've ever seen! Weatheronline has some real issues with high temp forecasting in some places. Doubt Skipton will be getting over 11-12°C on thursday. Here will be 9-10°C. I find metoffice forecasts the best: www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/gcwdfr8pd#?date=2017-12-05Going for 11 in Skipton, then highs of 2 in the following days. It will take nearly 24 hours to go from 11°C to 1°C through the day and into the early hours of Friday.

This would probably be the biggest cold front we've ever seen! We're going to get the south florida version of what's happening there later this week. Per the GFS Friday is forecast to have a High of 84F (29C) and Saturday is forecast to have a high of 56F (13C) (Parkas will be out in full force no doubt) Which drop (mine or yours) do you think will feel more intense?

I'd say yours, you haven't had any proper cool/cold weather yet this year have you? We had a high of 1.8C last week and a few other sub 5C highs, plus a 16C high would be further from the average than the 1C high anyway, so this would be less of a big deal.

I was speaking in a general sense though, as in which temp drop would feel more intense under comparable preceding circumstances. Our coldest day so far was October 30th with a high of 69F and a low of 56F, whether that's "properly cool" is up to you lol. 56/45 would feel like a huge change if it does occur.

Again, weatheronline's 16 is complete bollocks - netweather/GFS says 12C there on thursday, metoffice 11. 16 would be a month record.

would this forecst ever be possible anywhere in Sweden? Sure, the southern islands. Although going to 59f so quickly would be very hard. They are possible, though I don't know if in such quick succession. And the variation in diurnal ranges is very high. I don't know if somewhere that can manage 5f diurnals could manage 20f diurnals a week later

But the storm is from a cold front so the temperatures and air mass are very different the next day. Cold front timing is probably making the diurnal range appear smaller as the cold front interferes with a usual diurnal cycle. You don't get much lower diurnal ranges with rainy weather in the summer?

If a scenario like this were to happen in Sweden what month do you think it would happen in? P.S This is about as exciting as South Florida weather usually gets so I'm going to try to enjoy this as much as I can.

I wonder if their cold fronts don't lead to as fast temperatures? Or often produce warm, humid weather right before the cold front.

Our fronts almost always produce warm humid weather right before the frontal passage. We just don't get temperatures that cold (down to 44F) more than a couple of times a year.

Yes, my cold fronts almost always produce relatively warm and humid weather pre-front. I imagine you'll get some deep blue clear skies post-cold front? Sounds like a treat. Tangent: obvious why to someone who knows about climate, but it surprised me that Orlando has warmer winters than Delhi, India [they're both at the same latitude]

TAKE THAT, Canada. Buxton knows how to get real cold. Metoffice have a Yellow Snow warning in place.
