Forecast looks more bright- with several warm days and nights; and several sunny days. A nice start to autumn.

A ridiculous, insane snowfall forecast for the mountains west of Lake Tahoe, CA. A steady 2-3 inches of snow per hour for 2.5 days. Adding up the totals gives 11-14 feet (3.3-4.3 meters) through Saturday night and the rest of the forecast could be snowy too. Disclaimer: This is a computer forecast and nobody lives here. Edit: link forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-120.54973165878295&lat=39.444140224217506It got more ridiculous. "Total nighttime snow accumulation of 46 to 52 inches possible".

It's not a good omen when you have a 40 C high forecast in the first week of March:

This is genuinely a better forecast than I've seen all summer, at least from what I can recall. Love me some summer lag.

A few massive snowfall totals from the news. All of these are near Donner Pass, a few miles southeast of the point forecast I used. 6000 to 7000 ft elevation. 126 inches / 10.5 feet / 320cm at Sugar Bowl ski resort. Their website claims a base depth of 179" at the summit 116 inches / 9.6 feet / 295cm at Soda Springs [ climate box has an impressive 445" / 1130cm of snow a year] 106 inches / 8.8 feet / 269cm at Kingvale
