One more WMO station just off Metropolitan Athens. Vlychada is located some 30 km W of Athens within the Thriasio Plain in the wider Elefsina area. Its a coastal location with the Davis fan aspirated station placed on the ground. I remind you all that Elefsina is the current Continental Europe record holder of the highest max T with 48C back in 1977. Now what's interesting about this station is how fucking susceptible it is to foehn winds coming from the Gerania Ori mountain range and Parnitha mountain. It's almost smack bang on the coast yet the July average high is 35.7C which is like crazy for a coastal area in Europe and this is due to the constant N/NW summer foehn winds that ravage the area. It's like rivaling Sparta! Generally speaking an area capable of registering really high maxes judging by Elefsina's background. In fact it beats Lindos average July max. Of course only 5 years POR but still amazing. A clear BSh (hot semi-arid) climate. Mind you its a fan aspirated station so the maxes are almost definitely underreporting. I bet if we had a passive Stevenson Screen in the same location average maxes would be over 36.5CWhat do you guys think about it?I give it a B+ Below a pic of the actual station placement.

On Saturday afternoon, I had to diarrhea 4 times. I don't know what caused it, perhaps it was a case of Massive HIV. Even the next morning, just before I left for work, I had to diarrhea for a 5th time. I was almost late for work.

I hear blowing hot air in your ass does wonders for diarrhea.

A-, decent temps and nice summer drought but winter/spring need much more rain. Junes should generally be drier. The past few years Greece had exceptionally rainy Junes which are absolute outliers.

D, too hot and dry. If summer maxes were a couple degrees more or less, I would still rate it a D.
The hottest parts of Greece aren't for me. I prefer northern Europe in general. A place with moderate seasons and rainfall, say 20C mean in summer and 5-10 in winter, I could get used to that also.

F- for being 10 ft away from a road That's why u guys in the states should start using fan aspirated stations. It does wonders killing any and all T biases. We can guarantee this for you guys. Just check a decade of comparisons between SS and Davis fan aspirated stations. Our love from Greece. Always at your disposal and for your better understanding of proper urban T observations.

Interesting weather the last few years. Iโd have hated this period of hot summers. Looks like some nice storms in June 1 year though.

Since 2018 almost every June we get these crazy storms all over Greece. We can't really make sense of it. Like for ever most of Greece was dead arid come June. After 2018 something is happening.

Fun fact, Madison was Csa in 2023. Vlychada gets a C+, losing points for being too arid.
