One more WMO station just off Metropolitan Athens. Vlychada is located some 30 km W of Athens within the Thriasio Plain in the wider Elefsina area. Its a coastal location with the Davis fan aspirated station placed on the ground. I remind you all that Elefsina is the current Continental Europe record holder of the highest max T with 48C back in 1977. Now what's interesting about this station is how fucking susceptible it is to foehn winds coming from the Gerania Ori mountain range and Parnitha mountain. It's almost smack bang on the coast yet the July average high is 35.7C which is like crazy for a coastal area in Europe and this is due to the constant N/NW summer foehn winds that ravage the area. It's like rivaling Sparta! Generally speaking an area capable of registering really high maxes judging by Elefsina's background. In fact it beats Lindos average July max. Of course only 5 years POR but still amazing. A clear BSh (hot semi-arid) climate. Mind you its a fan aspirated station so the maxes are almost definitely underreporting. I bet if we had a passive Stevenson Screen in the same location average maxes would be over 36.5CWhat do you guys think about it?I give it a B+  Below a pic of the actual station placement.  The overall climate is okay bro. It's not too hot or cold. But I gotta say the site of the weather station is exemplary for a mass gay orgy. Lots of nice hard twigs and maybe even some Greek ticks for good measure. We should organize somin' there sometime bro! |

I prefer brown SE Asian type of dudes (Indian, Pakistanis, Bangla etc).
