Ok this WMO station is really something... Stylida located in Fthiotida, Central Greece is a foehn superpower area. Lamia which is the capital of Fthiotida is well known for this behavior (has recorded among the highest maxes in Greece in the past). Look at the stunning 37.3C July mean max when the station is almost smack bang on the coast. Over in Greek met forums there is serious debate as to whether Stylida can be a real challenger to Sparta's reign when it comes to summer average maxes. The WMO station in Stylida has been scrutinized (at our request) repeatedly by NOA and it appears it is indeed a hell of a foehn superpower. Anyway its only 3 years of POR (and 3 very warm years for that matter in Greece) so we are gonna give it a few more years to see if it can reliably fuck up Sparta. My guess is that Sparta will come on top since the pattern of non stop foehn days in Stylida during the summer is not very stable. But let's see how the next few years unfold... And just look at the ''continentality vibes'' you get from the diurnal ranges despite being a coastal station. In all justice though Fthiotida in reality is located in a ''closed sea'' resembling more of an inland area that is completely engulfed by mainland Greece's landmass. Its a B for me. Cant stand winter minimums. And here is the actual station placement. PS. Can u guess the first post from Tommy, benny boy, Marcelo etc? I can: '' because I ll make up a reason''

A-, too dry in winter and that July is even a few degrees too hot for me, but all around decent.

But do u guys think it can beat Sparta's summer avg maxes in the long term?
Constant foehn winds in the summer are not that reliable when compared to both foehn winds and inland location we have in Sparta.
But I am really curious as to if Sparta will meet its end by Stylida.

Ethiopia should just sell the Danakil Depression to Greece. Ethiopia gains revenue and the hottest climate on Earth becomes Greek. Win for both sides.

B-, it's too dry and summers are too hot but at least cools down decently at night. Temps outside of summer are great.

You sure this climate box isn't going to look a lot different a decade or so from now? I'm not rating a 3-year POR.

That's why I still believe Sparta will remain Greece's champion in terms of summer average highs. But I get it why u wouldn't rate a 3-year POR.

D+, maybe C- in a good year.
Winters are long and chilly, yet the summers are short and very hot strangely (foehn effect is strong here). Some of that summer heat should've been given to the chilly winter and springs.
