Fri is the capital of Kasos island in the Dodecanese. It records the mildest winters in Greece for a 15-year POR (Kastellorizo is slightly milder for a much shorter POR). The temperature has never dropped below 2.7 °C since records began on the island in 1989. The record low T of the HNMS station located in Kasos AP, just off Fri, was 2.8 °C (on the same day the NOA station in Fri recorded the 2.7 °C). Note that the previous record low T on the island was 4.2 °C (in the NOA station) and 4.6 °C (in the HNMS station in Kasos AP) from January 2017. So we are talking crazy mild winters by Greece's standards. Azores style. 11a/11b hardiness zone. Due to the summer Meltemi winds Fri which is located in the windward part of Kasos records one of the coolest summer maxes in Greece along with some of the Cyclades. It is also the 2nd driest area in the country with less than 255 mm of avg. annual rain. A BSh hot semi-arid climate missing the BWh hot desert climate by around 55 mm. I give it a B-. Summer maxes are awful to me.

B-
Would prefer if winter highs were warmer. Otherwise probably the best Greek climate. No frosts too. This is truly subtropical.

B- Would prefer if winter highs were warmer. Otherwise probably the best Greek climate. No frosts too. This is truly subtropical. Probably the actual winter highs are indeed warmer if we had a Stevenson Screen station in Fri. This is a fan aspirated station which consistently underestimates (some times considerably) max Ts compared to a SS. Pity HNMS does not publish the Kasos AP maxes consistently in their website. One needs to order Kasos AP data directly from their site. I am guessing Kasos AP winter highs should be around 17C to 17.5C in Jan and Feb and around 19C in December and March. Regarding frosts Fri, the Port of Rhodes, Kastellorizo and coastal Karpathos are the only areas in the country that we don't have reliable reports of snow ever settling. Specifically for the Port of Rhodes for which we have the most observations we have researched as far back as the late 19th century and we don't have a reliable report of settled snow. Record low Ts in the wider area are also noteworthy. The most extensive record comes from Karpathos AP and the record low from 1971 that the HNMS coastal stations on the island are operating is 2.2C in 1976 and 2004. I doubt Fri has ever dropped less than 1C the past century or so. I think more to your liking you will find Psari Forada in coastal South Crete. These data are from a passive Davis station which belongs to Creta Weather network.

C because it's too dry, but temps are comfortable for the most part.

A-, much too dry and I'd like more seasonality, but not offensive and temps/rain pattern are still very good.

A small fully maritime island at 35N latitude even further south than Lampedusa. In the middle of the sea far from any significant landmass with winds ravaging the place all year round. Kasos is pretty much barren. You barely see any green in the island. Only Fri has some minor plantations but that's about it. The rest of the island is desert looking.

C, acceptably warm year round; but semi-arid is not nice!
