BOURKE,NSW:
Bourke on the Darling River, is widely regarded as the gateway to the Outback. The Darling River is the unofficial border between the settled lands and Woop Woop all the way west to the Indian Ocean.

Under the Köppen–Geiger classification, Bourke has a hot semi-arid climate (BSh) with a mild amount of rainfall throughout the year.
bourke has very hot, dry summers and short, cool winters. The annual average rainfall is 339.5. millimetres which would make it a semi-arid climate although its high evapotranspiration, or its barrenness, makes it close to a desert climate.
Mean maximum daily temperature in summer is 36.2°C and in winter is 19.7°C. The highest temperature recorded in Bourke was 48.3°C in January 2013 .
There is a 49.7c on the record books from Jan 1903 at the Post Office although this recording has been disputed in recent times.
Bourke, in the valley of the Darling River records frosts during the winter months, the min daily temps in the winter months is 5.0c.
All time lowest min was -3.5c at the Airport and -3.9c at the Post Office.

With the altitude of almost 800m asl, Pecos records some extreme record highs, and during 'blue norther' cold outbreaks, also records some extreme low minimum temps
