Melbourne CBD's Coldest June Morning in 11 Years ( source: Anthony Cornelius Meteorologist ) Melbourne CBD's Coldest June Morning in 11 Years as Widespread Frosts Occur Across Victoria, NSW and parts of Southern Queensland! π₯Άπ₯Ά Melbournians can rightfully complain about the cold this morning with the CBD shivering through its coldest June morning in 11 years as the temperature fell to 1.4C. The suburbs faired worse with Essendon falling to -0.7C while Coldstream dropped to -4.5C! The airport fall to 0.2C, while that equaled the 2013 temperature 11 years ago, in 2020 they also recorded a low of 0.2C in June. It was a wintry tale across much of Victoria and inland NSW with extensive negative minimums and widespread frosts. The nation's capital was by far the coldest major city though dropping to -6.2C! I know it's winter and these temperatures are expected from time to time - but doesn't stop us (and me!) complaining about the cold! On the weather side of things, it may become a little interesting for southeastern South Australia today in the form of a few showers and isolated storms. A strong upper cold pool should bring some winter instability today and there's the potential for some small hail to occur in this activity. The approaching upper cold pool will also extend some cloud eastwards which should result in minimums slowly rising over the coming days for eastern Australia by a couple of degrees.

Had a tropical assault yesterday with dews in the 70s. Miserable weather despite temps not being hot. However, it led to a strong, long lasting thunderstorm later so the humidity was worth it. There was probably 3-4β in a bucket Iβd left outside, rain total wonβt come in until later as the nearest station is 8 AM-8 AM.
I will gladly take the humidity if it keeps leading to storms. Despite being much more uncomfortable, humid heat with storms is preferable to dry heat with no precipitation.

Hot damn that's some serious humidity this early in the summer. What are the SSTs there, like 2Β°C?
