Why these two climates? Both cities have 11 days of snow per annum. Oberon has warmer winters though, but its nights are cool all year round. Summers can see some t-storm activities, but they are not humid, unlike NYC's summers. Oberon's sunshine hours will be around 2600 hrs, typical of the region (so don't be put off by the crummy, oceanic, ''wet'' look of the table). NYC is prone to polar vortexes and blizzards btw. Sorry I had to remove some statistics from NYC climate table for spacing/clogging reason.

If Oberon supposedly gets as much shitty snow as NYC in winter, then I'll go with NYC for having the warmer spring/summer/fall.

I'm not a fan of the climate of the Central Tablelands/Great Divide region of NSW per se.... by AU standards its as cold as a witches tit.... and I don't do any sort cold real well... Having said that I know the region fairly well, having done snow chases to the Hampton/Mt Bindo/Oberon/Shooter's Hill/Jenolan Caves/Kanangra Walls areas in the past.... I've stayed at the old Jenolan Caves resort and as a young fella, hunted foxes for their pelts on a sheep farm ( a mate of my father's ) near the Wombeyan Caves/Taralga high country on top of the Divide... the winter pelts were worth around 30 to 35 dollars a skin and I made enough out of it to get myself a flash Finnish varmint rifle made by Sako in the .17 caliber... cost me $400 45 years ago ! So it is nice country out that way and Oberon/Shooter's Hill is the go to destination for chasers looking to see snowfalls west of Sydney. Jenolan Caves Hotel/Lodge Kanangra Walls Oberon in Oct 2010... noon and 1c-2c and sleeting turning into snow Aussie pub rockers Cold chisel and their song 'Flame Trees' video clip filmed in Oberon in late '70's/early '80's. So yeah/nah... cant vote for NYC's climate... those winters are shithouse for any self respecting Aussie....!

NYC, and it isn't even close, for the astonishingly warmer lows in summer. Easy choice.

Yeah, NYC for being more seasonal and wetter. That's the threshold for snow days in Oberon? Surprised NYC's is so low, 0.1" isn't much. Does the NOAA record snow falling day?

NYC for better seasonality. Does the NOAA record snow falling day? It does.

Oberon by far. This shows how useless snowy days are as a statistic on their own, NYC gets 76 cm, Oberon probably gets like 10-15 cm.

Oberon's snowy days aren't at all comparable to those in the US though. If only days with actual measurable accumulation were counted, I'm sure it would be much lower than NYC's.

NYC seems warmer overall and more interesting. Either climate is fine though.

0n face value it sounds too many, but hell, I live 4000klm away... lol and expert there I'm not... My time there was decades ago and not often in winter. The bloke who would know is 'he whose name shall not be mentioned'... old mate AA worked there in the timber industry for some years and would have a pretty good insight into snowfalls in the district. The Blackheath Weather fella would also know... ( I follow him on his FB Page ) Laurier Williams runs that AustralianWeatherNews site and he also lives in the high country out between Bathurst and Orange... to be fair I'd say we are not talking settled snow days but any observed falls...

Nice find! I didn't realise that site kept meticulous weather records of snow given all this data isn't available on BoM. I took a look around and found that Melbourne has 0.1 snow days listed (not in the url you linked though, it was on some Victorian stats page). Which I guess makes sense historically if we're talking just about observed falls haha Anyway my vote is for Oberon slightly
