I am in zone 4. The most in recent years was 2012 with 44 days. 18 of them in July.
With the humidity here I prefer zone 3. If humidity was low then zone 4.
Mecca probably has 350, the coldest month averages highs at 30.5C. Dallol might be 365 some years.

Not including days at 86?
86 counts. Itβs like how 32 f counts as freezing, itβs greater than/equal to 86.

For Long Island and NYC, it depends on the station. Going by the last 10 years:
EWR and TEB are Zone 7 LGA and NYC are Zone 6 JFK is Zone 5 FRG, ISP, HWV, FOK, and HTO are Zone 4 MTP is Zone 3
If you use the last 30 years instead of 10 years, all the NYC stations drop a zone while the Long Island stations remain in the same zone.

Going by the 1971-2000 averages, CIA averages 44.2 days with highs above 86Β°F, but the number seems to have increased though, thus it would be zone 6. Extrapolating to the altitude of where I live in, it would probably be in the zone 5 here. As for my preferences, my ideal climate is in the zone 9 range, though I didn't bother to calculate the number of 86+Β°F days.

Never saw this thread before somehow. Anyway, I am in Zone 1, <1 day 30C. Also, lol @ the thin sliver of zone 1/2 on the California coast.
