Aomori lies in a very interesting zone climate-wise. Nearby Hirosaki averages even more snow at 760cm annually. Aomori's 669cm is more than enough though. Averaging only ~10 precipitation days per month in the warmest months is really good for Japan too. At any rate, I'll give Aomori a solid A rating. I'm planning to visit in two years...maybe August. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aomori,_Aomori#Climate

Temperatures are nice, but that snow would get annoying real fast. It's also probably really muggy in the summer and it's a pretty gloomy place overall so I voted for a D. It's livable but no thanks, I'll be avoiding that place to live.

The normals in extreme months(January and August) are quite similar to Boston, however the seasonal lag is really pushing 2~3 weeks delayed compared to most of other locations in the world. Despite the tremendous amount of snowfalls guaranteed every year, I give them a grade C. Certainly better than Tokyo at least.

C+. Lovely precipitation, but summer lows are far too warm. Snowfall is a wee bit overboard, too..!!

E+ for those "gorgeous" wet snow and humid summer nights. As for the temps alone it'd been higher for sure.

D+. Like Rochester but wetter with colder springs.

Hmm, well it's interesting at least. Temps are not that bad apart from the warm summer lows, but that much snow and the humid summers...
I'll be generous and give it a C-, too much precip but not that many rain days at least, I'd rather precip be in the form of snow than rain. There must be a lot of very marginal snowfalls though, add a degree to the temperatures and I bet the snow totals wouldn't look nearly as impressive.
If I was going to visit it would definitely be late winter though to see those mammoth snow totals, I bet that even trees and disused buildings must be almost completely buried!

D-. Doesn't look horrible at first glance, but the monstrous humidity in the summer, the ridiculous snowfall, and the spring lag make for a pretty shitty combination. No better than Bunghamton

There are a lot of marginal snow events but the tendency is for snow even with temperatures pushing 3-4C. On the Sea of Japan coast there is Tottori with much warmer winters but still considerable snowfall totals. At 35N this is one hell of a climate:

Shanghai is a good bit crazier in winter than Kagoshima sari (31ยฐN and 8ยฐ/2ยฐ).

Shanghai is a good bit crazier in winter than Kagoshima sari (31ยฐN and 8ยฐ/2ยฐ). Well, if you just want crazy latitudes, the answer is Changsha at 28N. I was talking specifically about the frequency of snow at low latitudes in Japan

I gave it a D-. Winter is a disaster, unless you love cold and snow. The summer is humid, muggy, dull and damp. Altogether a poor climate.

Snow is good, but winter hovers around freezing too much, also the seasonal delay in summer is quite a turn off. Precipitation is solid but it's a bit too cloudy for me. I'd give it a C-.
Btw, if you flip your screen to the side, the grades distribution poll kinda looks like a middle finger... lol

how does it have more snowy days than precipitation days in January or February? Must have a very low snow day threshold
