I remember the original Poldark - Demelza was hottie back then as well.
The scenery is standout down there, and I wouldn't mind spending some time surfing around that part of the country at some point in the future.
One difference between the NZ oceanic climate, and the UK one, is that the areas with the warmest winters in the UK such as Cornwall, don't also have the warmest summers .

As a comparison Vancouver averages 1,937.5 sunshine hours per year and it's considered a cloudy climate, though it's quite polarized; summers here are among the sunniest in the country while winters are among the cloudiest.

That article is wrong, the sunniest parts of the UK are on the South Coast around Isle of White/Portsmouth along to Bognor Regis with 1900 sun hours and 1541 hours is less than London and little more than some parts of the North... lol.
