Porto vs Newark in a transatlantic 40°-41°N battle! One of them moderate mediterranean, the other a quite continental slightly moderated climate near the coast with slightly higher winter diurnals than Manhattan! No surprise that my vote goes to Porto - perfectly liveable year round and a very strong A climate bordering on A+ Newark has miserable winters, no sun in the world can save means below freezing without lasting snow cover...

Porto is an easy choice for me. An A climate - it's within 50 miles of being an antipode for here, and also reasonably close climate wise.
Newark looks nice from may-october, but is too cold the rest of the year.

Good climate battle and a much more difficult decision than I thought cause Porto's summers are kinda lame lol. That said it's a better climate year round, so Porto for me

Newark for being far more interesting. Porto looks boring as hell.
It's a C climate vs. a D- climate so it's an easy choice for me.

Newark by far. It’s a C+ vs. an E+.

Porto is way better than Newark.. easy peasy. A B climate vs. an E climate for me.

Newark, and it's not even close! Newark is quite a lovely climate, too.

Porto wins. The winters in Newark are too cold, almost as cold as here. But Valencia is better than Porto. Valencia is at the same latitude and is warmer in summer and winter. The sea is also too cold outside Portugal. I would say Newark is a C, Porto a B and Valencia a B+.

The sea is also too cold outside Portugal. I would say Newark is a C, Porto a B and Valencia a B+. The main thing Valencia has for me is milder winters, and yes, drier winters. Aside from that Porto is perfect. My dream climate would be a Valencia winter and a Porto summer

Newark for me. Decently cold winter, with a reasonable amount of snow, and an excellent and pretty long warm-hot summer.

Porto of course for having much less 30°C+ days, very simple choice.

Newark. Porto is too mild in summer and winter and lacking in summer rainfall; t-storms probably infrequent.

Difficult choice, but I'll give a slight edge to Newark for the colder winters. Sunshine hours are also probably slightly lower. I hate the summers though. Porto gets points for being very comfortable and livable. I would get bored with the weather, but would find the temperatures pleasant. Rainfall is decent as well.

Porto, not by a huge margin but definitely a solid choice. Newark's winters are too cold even though its summers are basically perfect.
Porto is a B and Newark is a B-.

Newark for me. More interesting and varied. Porto's quite comfortable but needs a little more seasonal variety and is too wet most of the year for my liking.

Newark. Porto has more comfortable summers, but the rest of the year looks boring and wet. Newark gets a lot more exciting weather even if it's warmer than ideal all year.

Newark, but I will say it's a terrible climate for the NE USA
